If this is true...wow 8 GB it's a lot of RAM for a gaming console, I guess most of it will go to the OS and the Kinect 2.0, it's probably a max of 3-4 GB of RAM for the games, which is still a lot.

Even then the gap could be pretty big. "Xbox Durango almost 3 times as powerful as the Wii U" is still a pretty big headline / statement. |
Doesn't matter if they still run the same games. it would be a PS2 vs. Xbox situation for them all over again.

It's relatively inexpensive at retail so my guess it's probably something that will quickly get cheaper. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/a10-4600m-trinity-piledriver,3202.html here they talk about the A10 laptop my guess is that it's going to be along those lines |
A few things, the A10 is a quad core processor not 8. And why would they go with a mobile cpu when A-10 piledriver for desktop would be available?

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)
OT: Sounds very powerful. Imo, that is way too much RAM for a gaming console, heck even an "entertainment hub machine". Not sure where an 8-core Intel CPU is coming from unless, like the source says, it is Atom based. Finally, I think it's possible that Microsoft is working with Nvidia again on the home console front , afterall they are working together on the tablet front.

They way Microsoft got screwed over by Nvidia on the orgininal X-Box I doubt that MS will ever work with them again when it comes to home consoles that bridge is burned for the most part. It looks like Sony will drop Nvidia in favor for AMD/ATI also for their next console.
i think the Durango is going to be around 2 times more powerful than the WiiU, which is a lot imo
like PS2 vs Xbox
and we all remember how that ended up xD
seriously
its pretty clear the gap between the Msoft machine and Nintendo machine is not going to be that big this time....

could you please explain, why this is clear? Here is what we know or is rumored:
Wii U
Xbox Durango
That seems to be quite a big gap to me?!
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Wii U Ram- Unconfirmed
X-Box 720 Ram- Unconfirmed
Wii U- Power 7 based CPU confirmed. Core number unconfirmed. Clock speed unconfirmed.
X-Box 720- According to this rumor it is not an AMD, it's an Nvidia. So... stick with one rumor at least. At any rate unconfirmed.
Wii U GPU- Custom AMD. Otherwise, unconfirmed.
Making any comparisons based on the highly speculative information we have is really just silly at this point.

Like you said, it seems like 720 will be around 8x current gen with a large amount of RAM with a good chunk for multimedia, multitasking, OS, etc.
PS4 leak said 4GB RAM and 1.8 TFLOP GPU.
And it appears WiiU will be around 3x/4x current gen with a GPU resembling the e6760.
Overall WiiU would be underpowered but not vastly so. The gap wouldn't be as anywhere as big as Wii to PS360 or PS360 to high end PCs.
i don't think MS would go back with NVIDIA same as others have said tbh.
i also don't really care about the price of whats in the box.. i just want power and games. POWER AND GAMES! lol
