Forums - Sony - PS Vita is 'too expensive for most', says Pachter

if the vita is too expensive would't the 3ds xl be to expensive as well? (if i remember correctly it costs about the same) plus i read somewhere that the charging cable isn't includet in the 3ds xl so youd have to pay extra just like the vitas's memory card...

Speaking for the region where I live (the U.S.), the 3DS XL will release at $199 which is not the same price as Vita.  And also, what you read about the charging cable not being included referred only to Japan.  It has been confirmed that the US 3DS XL will have charging cable included, so it's not like having to pay for Vita's memory card.

Note: The 3DS XL comes with an AC Adaptar if you live in the US, Australia, or New Zealand. Only Europe and Japan doesn't have one included.

3DS XL = $200

Vita = $250 (Wi-Fi model)  or $300 (3G model) + $20-$100 Memory Card (depends on sizes, 4GB-32GB)

Included (not the basic stuff such as manual and charger):

3DS XL = Built-In Software: StreetPass Mii Plaza (includes two free games), Face Raiders, and AR Games. Six AR cards and 4GB SD Card

Vita = Six AR Cards (have the option to download three free AR games from PSN Store)

well here in switzerland the vita  goes for 250 CHF  (300 CHF for the 3g version)
today i read that the 3ds xl would cost 270 CHF bundled with a game (dont know wich) but doesn't have a charging cable.
so i guess money-wise there is not to much of a difference here...

edit: exchange rate CHF to USD is pretty much 1 to 1

Why does what this guy say mean so much on the internet? He's ALL over the web!!! Patcher says this, Patcher says that, SO WHAT!?

I see his name on forums and blogs more than ANYONE and his "analysis" aren't worth a DIME!

Vita is having a rough start just like the 3DS did. Too expensive and not enough games.
Can't wait to get my hands on an XL.

"That said", hey?

I don't really understand. Is that supposed to be a question?

Sir, the only place in this thread where the phrase "that said" pops up is in your own typed words.

$250 + the price of memory cards is a lot to ask for a console that mostly just plays watered down PS3 ports.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

The real problem with Vita isn't the price. It's the price/value ratio. Consumers aren't seeing the value to reflect the price the handheld is at.

This. OMG this.

There is a ton of value people just don't see, and it is going to explode as soon as PS Mobile releases. As for right now, it is better than a PS3. More RAM, more functionality, cross game chat, it has apps, you can carry around with you, it's pretty damn spiffy. It just doesn't have the same backlog PS3 does, which are PSP games.

They really would benefit from an in your face commercial campaign that serves more as an introduction to the console than a "hey this exists" ad. Why do companies avoid commmercials that explain/showcase their product?

It was a joke. Your post said

"Vita is having a rough start just like the 3DS did. Too expensive and not enough games. "

then you said

"Can't wait to get my hands on an XL."

I reconstructed it as

"Vita is having a rough start just like the 3DS did. Too expensive and not enough games. "

"That said, can't wait to get my hands on an XL."

I just found it funny it was like "Vita is struggling! Oh well, I'll just get an XL."

I was just playing. Whatever, crappy joke.
