I loved TDKR. I also loved the Avengers, but I felt like TDKR dragged me into the plot, even if it felt like some plot holes and the story could have been told better. The Avengers was a great movie, but I just never fully got into the hype as others did until the very end of the movie. It probably would have helped if I had watched the previous Marvel hero movies before seeing the Avengers, but TDKR delivered in a way the Avengers did not.

Avengers.  First movie I saw 3 times in the theaters during it's initial run.  And it just kept getting better.

I thoroughly enjoyed TDKR (just saw in IMAX last night), but I know what's going to happen next.  I'm going to start to think about it.  And, like BB and ESPECIALLY TDK before it, it will start to unravel.  It's already began somewhat and it's frustrating.  And subsequent viewings will likely cause it all to come spilling out like an exploding boil.

And, while TDKR does have it's memorable moments, The Avengers is loaded with so many note perfect moments that it's almost taken for granted.  Banner's moment when he reveals his secret gave me chills EVERY.  SINGLE.  TIME.  That's my movie moment of the year and one of the my top of all time easily.

It annoys me, though, to see people down TA as fluff in comparison to TDKR.  TDKR isn't as deep or meaningful as  many pretend it to be.  It's thematically nothing all that inspired in comparison to TA.  Please don't make me go there, as I don't like systematically tearing down a movie that I rather enjoyed.

But they're both movies worth seeing on the big screen, as was TAS.  Disappointing summer overall, though, compared to last year.  Maybe Total Recall will be so good that it redeems it ... ?  : |

Hard to say because both movies aim for different goals. Avengers essentially embraces the comic book culture just entirely and makes one of the best depictions of the super hero lore we've ever seen. It really kinda captured everything that's made comics and marvel the big entities they became. In a way, I do think Avengers is the better comic book movie because it brings a uncompromising marvel fantasy to life. Let's not forget the series of films leading up to the Avengers. A back story turned into a film for nearly every character all leading up to the Avengers teaming up. It's essentially one of the most unique epics ever accomplished.

One thing that must be accounted is that DC fans will choose The Dark Knight Rises and Marvel fans will pick The Avengers, Comic book fans are as passionate as Gamers are (Ninty vs Sony vs Xbox) I am a DC fan and to me Nolans saga redefined Batman to me, I have collected and read Chuck Dixon's run on Batman along with Denny O'neil's Grant Morrison's, Frank Miller's, Paul Dinni's, Alan Moore and all the great ones, but Nolan's interpretation of Batman on film is the best I have ever seen, the chemistry of Bruce with Alfred, Lucius, Gordon came out exactly as I always imagined they would be if Batman ever existed in RL,
The Avengers will make more money for sure, it's a movie EVERYONE can enjoy, my 6 year old cousin had his birthday party and Avengers was the theme, I saw the movie and enjoyed it, but felt that they barely focused on the villain (Loki) it seemed to me as if they barely cared what the plot was as long as it was an excuse to put these heroes together and everytime the dialogues would get too obvious, Robert Downey JR would just say something sarcastic and funny.
The Dark Knight Rises is a different movie, no 6 year old will understand it nor jump around on joy at certain scenes, Bruce's struggle is understandable same as Talia's revenge, I dont know, this movie just clicked with me.

Then again I am a DC fan so I might be biased, heck, I actually enjoyed Green Lantern and waits for a sequel (please add the flash and Green Arrow in it tho) XD.

Avengers was a decent flick and TDKR was a pretty awesome flick.

I feel as though I can't give TDKR a fair review since I just saw Star Wars Ep. 4-6 a few days before going to see TDKR.

I know that feel bro...everything seems poor compared to Star Wars! tehehe

TDKR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TASM > Avengers

TDKR was not just a comic book movie it had many lessons for life to be taken from it. It transcends from being a movie to becoming a commentary on so many more things.

Maybe the greatest film ever after Star Wars movies.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

For me TDKR wins hands down. However, TA was very good too - the best thing about this was the way they brought the stars of different movies together. Has this been done before?

Personally I would love to see the same happen with the DC heroes Superman and Batman (and Wonder Woman i guess) in a movie would be the BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!

DESHE DESHE BASHARA BASHARA... jesus christ

Avengers blew my mind and it was one of the biggesst surprises ever. The Dark Knight Rises was dissapointing. But I am a Batman fanboy, so Tie.

I hope the next Batman reboot will be as good as this trilogy.

I prefer Avengers over Batman anyday. I'm sure TDK and TDKR as good movies but batman is just a lame hero. The Avengers have much more appeal to me.

So you haven't actually seen them? >_>

*facepalm*

Like comparing Schindlers List to Rambo.

Actually that comparison may be going a bit too far but yknow what I mean.
