Also I wouldn't care about this proposition if Microsoft was doing anything with these IPs.

MS have butchered RARE. I'm sorry, but they have. Looking at the games they release now, it's hard to believe that it was once one of the best out there.

It's not the same RARE that Nintendo sold off it's stake in way back in 2002. Most of the team has defected to other studios or other industries. Trust me, you don't want the RARE that Microsoft has turned them into. It would be better to establish a new team and try to coax the staff back who've left over the last ten years.
