Too bad its a made up bullshit lie tho
I've skipped some of the posts.
I live just minutes away from the theater and can't believe how naive and inconsiderate most of you are. Please think about the victims first and not about your predetermined gun views. Banning guns or freely allowing them would not have changed this tragedy.
| radishhead said: http://www.kctv5.com/story/19071381/shooting-at-theater-during-batman-premiere-in-colorado I just turned on the news and I saw this incident - apparently it's the worst in the USA since a school shooting many years ago (I think), so it's extremely saddening. Aside from just reporting the story however (which I assume American users know about already), I wondered what your opinions were regarding gun laws. It's impossible to deny that the chances of such a tragedy happening would be reduced if ownership of a gun is illegal without a license (assuming these licenses were very difficult to get, and wouldn't allow a civilian to carry one in public). Is the idea of possessing a gun an outdated idea, or is it still significant in the modern world? |
A psycho with a gun has nothing to do with gun control laws...it could happen anywhere irregardless of laws.

That statement is patently false and generally insulting.
If he killed 1,000 people he'd be a TERRORIST.
If he killed 1 person he'd be a THUG.
He shot into a crowd and killed 12 random people so he's INSANE.
I find it disturbing how many people are using this tragedy to push their agendas. People died. You may not have known them, but their families are in agony right now. Be thankful you can go home and be with your loved ones. Take some time to appreciate what you may have been taking for granted. Don't capitalize on the pain of others.
BTW, I'm not talking directly to deskpro2k3, I'm just responding to the disgusting and exploitive hate mongering image.

It does make drugs crazy expensive to purchase. And likely so with black-market weaponry, but with the added fun that guns aren't addictive, so people are less likely to go to crazy lengths to acquire them.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
Every time someone uses a tragic event to push an agenda that isn't directly related to the event, I lose a little more faith in humanity.

thats retarded, while yes he acted alone, and not part of a terrorist group, it was definiately an act of terror.
and that whole thing is just wrong and untrue. just look at the fort hood shooting. they called Major nadal hissan actions "work place violence" not terrorism, didnt mention islam as the motive. it has political correctness written all over it.
although, its already been said. you cant measure how many massacre have been stopped by civilians because by very definition, if the armed citizen stopped them then there was no massacre that took place. but here is a video of a church shooting were an armed citizen stopped the criminal.

| Allfreedom99 said: Despicable. I woke up to this news 2 hours ago as well. He threw canisters of gas. Possessed high powered rifle and hang guns. Was wearing a gas mask and cevlar/ bullet proof vest. The only description I heard was that he was tall slemdar and a muscular build. Name is James Holmes and he was 24. On the OP wanting to know about gun laws... There is no way u will stop violent crimes with strict gun laws. Normal citizens will abide by the law. Criminals will still be able to get guns on the black market or secretly. I disagree with the OP on this. If the theatre allowed concealed carry and I was carrying u better b darn sure I would do everything I could to try and stop him. You see this is the problem. Only law abiding citizens will abide by strict laws. If an experienced gunman was there with a concealed weapon they would have had the power to try and stop him before he killed more. |
Fighting the black market would be much easier than not being able to prevent people from owning guns at all.
