Forums - Nintendo - Is New Super Mario Bros. U a Wii U launch title or not? Will that be bad news for the Wii U?

The ideal launch would be October 30th with Nintendo Land, Assassin's Creed 3, Zombi U, Rayman, Sing, Ninja Gaiden 3, Batman: AC, etc. This ensures the Wii U version of AC3 is day and date with the other two versions and Zombi U for Halloween is perfect.

Then you can have Pikmin 3 a week or two later on Nov. 11th.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on Nov. 13th.

New Super Mario Bros. U on Nov. 25th, in time for the second big shipment of systems ahead of Black Friday.

That would be the ideal launch for maximizing the software they have and ensuring the two big third party releases of the year -- Assassin's Creed 3 and BLOPS2, launch on the Wii U at the same time as the other platforms.

And Ubi Soft is happy because they get time to Rayman and Zombi U to really bring in some sales. Win win for everyone, a few Nintendo fans may cry about Mario not being there exactly for day, but screw 'em. Go buy something else for a change, lol, Rayman needs those sales a lot more than Mario does, Mario will be fine in the long run.

I'd imagine, as others have said, it'll be there day 1.

Never saw the hate for Nintendo's conference. It did what people wanted, but it wasn't enough???

cant speak for anyone else, but we didnt get any specs or very little on the online components, which is what i was most looking forward too.

The trouble with NSMBU is that it looks so, so very similiar to the previous three games in the series. Even the theme music is identical. The art style hasn't changed at all. The level design looks the same, just with more things going on due to the horsepower.

Not saying it won't be a big seller, and I'm certainly not saying that it won't turn out to be a classic. What I am saying is that on it's face, that game does not differentiate itself enough from previous games in the 'NSMB' line, and I can't be the only person who is skeptical of paying $59.99 for more of the same. NSMBWii was not all that great of a game.

NSMB2 looks really good, but only because of the clever "collect 1,000,000 coins" theme and the raccoon tail that appeals to the NES fanboy nostalgia. NSMBU does not have that same appeal, and it's supposed to be a system seller?

Wrong. The theme is not the same as the 3 other games.

Everyone hoping for an October release is gonna be out of luck. Has Nintendo released an home console outside of November before? I don't think Nintendo cares about AC3 releasing on WiiU with its PS3 and 360 counterparts anyone buying the WiiU interested in AC3 would buy it for WiiU regardless of it releasing after the other versions. Nintendo will most likely release late November as always and release Mario in either early December or mid. Save Wii Fit U for the early adopter's parents so word can spread of this Wii fit like others have sold. I honestly don't see how people believe this platform won't be successful. It has an very strong launch line up that could keep the WiiU afloat until the next wave. Which will hopefully be Mario Kart U and Wii U Sports headlining alongside Retros surprise and DQX, the WiiU will have an great first full year giving the nextbox and PS4 an hard time. Especially if their more expensive and lack Halo and GT to truly push their early adoption.

Nintendo never ever release specs though, and all the online stuff came the day before. E3 is supposed to be about the games, and yet, when Nintendo did show all games, people were unhappy. I don't see the problem.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Like most of you said, if the WiiU comes out in Nov, let the third party games be the forefront than finish it off with Mario in the christmas bash! That's how I would do.

they released them for GC, and what online stuff did you hear about?? I still would have liked for them to do it or at least address how powerful it would be. as for online, the only thing i got was Ninty land. What about friend codes?, acheivements, multiple accounts? cloud saving, cross game chat?, video chat?, we got no info on any of those. As for the games, i saw was alot of ports and a few originals, nothing in that line up got me excited, not a bad lineup but the games that interested me the most i already played or i could play, right now. So no, E3 didnt do what I wanted, thats just me

No, this is not going to work, they tried that with 3DS and look how well that turned out. If they want to move consoles out the gate, they need Mario or something equivalent to Wii Sports/Fit. Rayman aint gonna do it, AC3, isnt going to do it. ports of games that have been out for months or even a whole year, sure as hell aint gonna do it

This is the real theme. I heard it often while they were playing offscreen at the booth.
