Forums - Nintendo - Pachter: Nintendo made Wii U Pro Controller to secure Call Of Duty

Ah, Pachter. It's been what, a week without him appearing in some sort of news or something? He needed his dose.

By the way, it's funny that he said this

"Hardcore gamers will buy them; hardcore Nintendo fanboys will buy it. They could put out a piece of cardboard and say that it'll play Mario and they'll buy it."

Wouldn't that make Nintendo succeed again? After all, the ones who didn't buy the Wii were the "hardcores"...

Please excuse my bad English.

I don't care what the Kim kardashian of gaming says.

How come CoD was on the Wii then? Which had a much more unique control method than the WiiU

He's completely off the mark with this one.

And where is he not completely off the mark?  Being off the mark is a trademark of Pachter, unless he goes into information that is readily available.  In areas of speculation, Pachter has a poor track record.  He is apparently competent enough to give basic industry info to investors, which is why he still has a job with his company.

What I say about Pachter is in regards to what people post about him: stuff in area of speculation and predictions.

I actually think its reasonable to suggest that the Wii U Pro was developed for ease if transition for 3rd parties and consumers.

Hmmmmm, I have a better analysis that Pachter. Here it goes: Nintendo made the Wii U Classic Controller as the next logical step in their classic controller line.

I have not heard anything from Activision either, but it's just common sense; something Pachter seems remarkably short in.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Something has been bothering me about this whole conversation, and maybe I'm just missing something, but this is how i see it.

I'm assuming most if not all Wii U games will support the ability to play games just on the Gamepad, for when your TV is occupied. If this is the case then all such games must also have a version of the HUD and controls that works on a single screen (the gamepad screen), with standard buttons usage and no touch screen.

By extension if this control setup must be included then surely this setup should be optional at any stage for anyone who prefers to play the game with regular controls (on the gamepad), HUD on the TV screen and with no touchscreen. When playing this way you are playing the game exactly as you would on the 360 or PS3.

So if any developer wants to just support a standard control layout, rather than slapping on some gimmicky gamepad support, what's stopping them. I don't see how the Pro controller is necessary for this.

I think it's far more likely that the Pro controller was introduced as a cheaper alternative for those wanting additional controllers and more importantly due to the difficulty with outputting to a TV and 2+ Wii U gamepads.

Even the Wii got almost all the CoD & MW games and a port of these games to the Wii U is much easier than to the Wii.

As always: it is not important what Pachter says (his words are as unlogical as ever) but WHY he said such things. After all, Pachter is only a employee and says what his boss wants him to say. Because Pachters words always generate some attention, his words are not always his opinion but used by his bosses as some kind of marketing or anti-marketing for some companies.

Kim Kardashian of gaming?  I didn't realize that Pachter had such a big ass.

Wait... are you implying that's what he is?  A big ass?

Reported for trolling!

Dont care what anyone else says, I am planning to get this controller when I get my Wii-U but I doubt it will be for Call of Duty ;x.

I hope that games like CoD do still support the Remote and Nunchuck setup though.  GoldenEye Wii proved that it's the superior control scheme to anyone that had their doubts.
