Microsoft makes software for the Mac.   The likes of Call of Duty and other titles could stay multiplatform.

If MS bought Activision, yes COD would be available on other platforms than Xbox, but not other consoles. MS would be happy to sell Activision's games to PC and Mac users, but not on Nintendo and Sony consoles. MS wants to own the living room so they would never alows anything they own to boslter the competition's library.

I would beg to differ here.  Microsoft used developing for the Mac as a way to get specs and info on the Mac.  I see them still releasing a few top multiplatform titles across them, so they have access to the dev kids, and be on the inside loop as to what the competitors are doing.  If a competitor is coming out with a console, owning a top third part on the system would be a competitive advantage.  Now, they could still get all the advantages of early releases for map packs and expansions.  What they would want to avoid is having yet another title take the place of what Activision has in Call of Duty.  Go exclusive and another third party title will rise.

With all due respect that does not make any sense. The short term advantage of gaining access to information from dev kits would be completely blown out of the water by the advantage of taking away one of the biggest 3rd party developers from Sony. If MS bought Activision it would be business as usual at all the Activision developers, save one thing, no more Sony or Nintendo ports.

hope it happens. no more cod on playstation would be amazing. do it microsoft!

ms should do this 10 billion is nothing to them, well they are already populor in the usa but it could not hurt much it make them even more populor, hell cod as much as i dont like its a very powerfull game ,so ms go for it

First, I think it would be hilarious that Bungle would be back working for Microsoft. It's like a funny party of a movie where something gets out of a thing, only to be back into a bigger thing. (tee hee)

Second, I don't think Microsoft would mind selling COD and such on a Sony system. They already work together selling computers (Sony computers carry Microsoft's Software). People talk about Apple and Microsoft being enemies, but Microsoft developed many of the business software for Apple. Now, I think the Sony versions of COD and other multi platforms will not be as good as one the Microsoft one. And the difference would become bigger on a next gen system.

I think a single game/style can sell many units. Halo being exclusive on the Xbox sold the original system for many unites. And movement this generation has sold many Wiis.

I think it would be very interesting if they bought AB. I think there would be some big slashes, but also some huge exclusives and innovations.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

I really think the best way MS can get in every living room is if they offer Xbox Live to all platforms and devices. Why not make the retail version of COD exclusive to Xbox and allow other console owners to play the game by downloading through Xbox Live on Playstation and Nintendo WiiU...

That is actually a brilliant idea!  I don't think Sony or Nitendo would both agree.  Perhapse one company would if they were desperate, but I don't think they want to let other companies on their systems.

Still, would be cool - it would cross platform like SmartGlass.

There is just no way MS would publish anything on a rival's console.

MS doesn't partner with Sony to put Windows on Sony PC. Sony buys the biggest OS that everyone wants because they have to. Microsoft sells software on Mac because MS doesn't make PC's. MS wants to be in every office so they sell office software on OSX and Windows. It's not the same with consoles, because all console manufacturers want to sell as many units as possible. MS wants their Xbox consoles to be in every living room. There is no way they would publish games on rival consoles when they are trying to to convince people to buy an Xbox instead of a Sony or Nintendo console. If MS bought A/B they would cancel all Sony and Nintendo ports. All the developers under A/B would switch to Xbox 360, Windows, Mac, WinPhone, and maybe a few Android/iPhone. It's possible they would let nearly finished Vita and 3DS games hit the market, but after that it would be a weapon against Nintendo and Sony. Sony doesn't buy up 3rd party devs so they can sell on multiple platforms, why would Microsoft?

MS would basically win next gen with that move.

An exclusive CoD , Gears, Halo, Forza, Fable cycle can't be beaten. It just can't.

2013 new Xbox 360 release with exclusive CoD and Forza 5(biggest launch EVER)
2014 Gears of War 4, Fable 4, new exclusive Bungie game
2015 Halo 5, CoD next, Forza 6

Of course they could build their counterpart to steam as well. CoD, Warcraft 4, WoW 2, Diablo exclusively on Games for Windows. Oh the meltdowns.

BTW: I don't think this will happen.

They need 100% of the stock to make COD first party...The 40% other stockholders will never allow MS to make COD first party (Xbox 360 exclusive) and I think they can start a lawsuit..

I don't think so. While Nintendo only owned  49% of Rareware, they were a first party developer for them. And as a minority, those 40% you're talking about really have nothing to say.

Do keep in mind though that while Microsoft owned 100% of Rare they still released two DS titles. All they needed was Microsoft's permission.

Edit: Fixed the numbers.

But Rare was like first party from the start.  The difference is that COD not releasing on PS3 etc would cut a lot of the profit and you are not allowed to do that because you are hurting your company on purpose and the other stockholders will not agree with it and they can start a case about it. Should look it up..

This won't happen. No one would like to see this market dominance.

Just for the lulz:
It would be a perfect buy for Microsoft.

An asset stripping seems possible and MS could buy divisions of Activision/Blizzard.

With 60% of a company, you can do basically anything you want.

Diablo III is PC exclusive and shareholders are not going crazy over a missing console port either.
According to that logic no 3rd party game that was multiplat once is allowed to be an exclusive game ever again.
