An exclusive CoD , Gears, Halo, Forza, Fable cycle can't be beaten. It just can't.

2013 new Xbox 360 release with exclusive CoD and Forza 5(biggest launch EVER)
2014 Gears of War 4, Fable 4, new exclusive Bungie game
2015 Halo 5, CoD next, Forza 6

Of course they could build their counterpart to steam as well. CoD, Warcraft 4, WoW 2, Diablo exclusively on Games for Windows. Oh the meltdowns.
