Forums - Nintendo - I sold my DS Lite like you guys said to

Original Post:

Ok, so I wish to sell my DS Lite in the near future, and I will get the 3DS XL.

Today I went to Gamestop to see what they would take for my DS Lite, but it seems they won't buy a system without a serial sumber, and mine has rubbed off.

I have the box that my DS Lite came in, and that has serial number, and I've registered my system of Club Nintendo, so the serial number is there as well.

The Gamestop client pretty well set on his premise that he won't buy the DS Lite unless the serial number is physically on the system.

So, what I want to know is if there is anyway to send my DS Lite to Nintendo and have them put the serial number back on my system. I would be willing to pay. Is that possible, or am I doomed?

UPDATE 7/29/2012:

Ok, so I took you peoples' advice and put it up on ebay today. And it sold, 50 dollars.

Here's the link if you care

i made an Ebay account to sell it, and I thought I might as well include some games that I don't play anymore.

Since I was a new user, I thought I should put it at an attractive price. I saw others going for anywhere from 30-50 dollars for just the system.

I put the starting bid at 35 dollars, and had a buy it now option for 50, I'd be pretty satisfied with selling the bundle for 50 dollars. It sold within half an hour. Now that I think about it, I probably could have gotten away with selling it for more, but I'm happy with 50 dollars, so that's fine.

Currently I'm awaiting payment for it, and then I plan to ship it once it's paid for.

So, did I do a good job? Did I sell it for a decent price?

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

1) Do you have the box for the NDS Lite?
2) Do you have any proof of receipt of purchase, it may contain a serial code and perhaps you could contact the store you bought it from and use that as proof of purchase?
3) Sell it on Ebay/online

yes, i have the box, and it has the serial number on it

My dad bought the DS Lite with his CC back in 2009, and he usually keeps all his receipts. I'll find out when my dad gets I planning on taking the receipt to Best Buy and seeing if they could do anything about it.

I don't have an ebay account, and I've never sold anything online, so I probably would be bad at it.

I honestly think you will get more money selling it somwhere that isnt Gamestop

mysticwolf you always have a hardware problem lol. Last week it was the HDD upgrade of your PS3 and now it's your DS.

How much money will Gamestop pay you for it?
Odds are if you sold it to me, I'd pay more lol

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

SELL IT ON CRAIGSLIST FOR DOUBLE WHAT GAMESTOP WILL GIVE YOU!

Gamestop will not ever give enough money for it lol. Heck I would probably pay more.

Just sell it on Amazon, Ebay, or Craigslist. But if you sell it on craiglist make sure to meet in a public place and only take cash. Oh and make sure you have some other people with you too.

Did I ever mention that I have six DS systems. I don't bring it up very often, I know. Anyway, there's a reason I have six DS systems. Now, you also know why.  I knew what your problem was before I even clicked on the thread.  It's probably going to be an issue with the 3DS, too.  Nintendo likes to print the serial number on a sticker that is easily removed or the print rubs off if you actually play with the device.  It sucks.
