Forums - General - Dear England, Please take US back!

Also, how can you Englishmen take being spied on all the time? I heard there are cameras everywhere. The governments of the world are getting too strong. We need to limit our governments before they limit us.

The camera thing is a myth.

Heck no!. In my eyes, the British are backwards. What kind of civilized people exalt one family above others? Royalty is BS. The Queen is BS. I'd say we should end their reign once and for all, but the Prince guy seems to be legitimately a good guy. He served in the military after all, and he has done good charity work over the world. Maybe it's time for the Queen to get out and give England a King. Even then, royalty is still BS.
Also, their accent is awful and they have poor taste in sports just like every other European nation. I want to distinguish myself as far away from them pesky Europeans while still acknowledging that we are still friends and we all have the same goal(contain China and Russia).

Lol, the Queen isn't really revered that much by us... there are probably more American tourists who care about the Queen's position than British citizens, which is basically what she is used for nowadays (tourism).

As for the British accent, well there is no one accent just lke in America, and it depends which regions of the two countries we are using as to which accent I prefer. I think in terms of the most common accents though I probably would agree with you.

As for sports, I'll give you basketball, that's pretty cool. And I'll give you Cricket from our side, which is astoundingly dull (i'm also not a fan of watching football, but that's to do with the players and not because of the sport, as I enjoy playing it).... but baseball, American football and Nascar are almost as dull as cricket.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/fear-of-crime-makes-uk-most-watched-country-in-europe-561265.html

"British people are living in greater fear of crime than any other European nation, an anxiety that is fuelling the massive increase in closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, a two-year study has revealed."

"Fears that the UK would "sleep-walk into a surveillance society" have become a reality, the government's information commissioner has said."

"We have more CCTV cameras and we have looser laws on privacy and data protection."

"There are up to 4.2m CCTV cameras in Britain - about one for every 14 people."

I assume BBC is a reputable source right? Maybe they are just really good at hiding them?

Most cameras are not owned by the government though.

I do agree that it's excessive here, although tbh it really doesn't bother me in most places, i'm far more bothered about things like smartphone apps that track you by GPS or apps/websites that collect and/or send information about me than cameras.

Cameras are not a very good method of personal data collection other than to figure out where you are, so ultimately if it got to the point where it was possible to track me by camera from my home to any decently populated area then the camera issue would become a bigger privacy concern than the web.

No, England is lame and lacks freedom. America is pure freedom.

I don't think the UK's violent crime rate has been below that of the US any time in the past decade.

Well not since some idoits in the E.U. made us take half of the third world most violent criminals, with no option to deport them after time served in prison.

Yeah. I really hope Cameron's talk about a referendum on the EU wasn't just hot air.

England is fine. But the USA rocks.
