Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo can never seem to satisfy fans

^Gotta admit, that is kinda weird. S.T.A.G.E., may you just didn't like the games, and thought they never got better, unlike UC maybe? Maybe you felt the Prime games were all too traditional? Or didn't evoke enough relevant themes? Did they stagnate in bringing new to the table maybe, lost their ability to compel you? Just tryin to understand.

Yeah they did. Everyone knows Nintendo can make quality, so what are they so afraid of in making a new IP? I played Nintendo from four years old to fifteen and then I slowed down on Nintendo purchases because the PS2 had so many games. After the gamecube I took a long break from Nintendo. Hasn't bothered me at all since first party isn't really too into making new games IP's. Sony filled that void for both Nintendo and Microsoft, because they seem to be making more core titles than the both of them combined. The new Mario game looks so uninspired, the Zelda demo video looked interesting and Metroid has always been cool. I've realized over this years though that its not that hard to ignore Nintendo. Take Gears for instance, Microsoft burned me out of my favorite 360 franchise. Theres no way that game will survive to the next console.

Is not that hard to ignore Sony either
lol at those all new ips that look and play the same...

In what universe does inFamous plays the same as Uncharted that plays the same as God of War that plays the same as LittleBigPlanet?

Apart from new IPs, what could Nintendo do to make Prime a more compelling title. The reason I ask is because I'm assuming, would ND release UC4 on the PS3/4, you would likely buy it. What is it about Prime that failed to compel you back to the Nintendo platform, and how similar is it to gears in that regards? What of it is better than gears, what is similar and what is worse. Lastly, is it possible that Nintendo, as a company, turned you off, and that affected your opinion on their games? To expand, had Prime released on the PS2, would you have bought it?

Metroid already is a compelling title, it just isn't made by the top FPS developers. Despite that it is a great franchise which doesn't need help. The problem with Nintendo titles is they keep making the same games that are always stuck together into a ball of rehashed events over and over and over again. Naughty Dog likes to work on new titles dont like being held down to one franchise, they've always been that way. The same goes for Sony Santamonica. Sony has to give the go ahead to what they do though. Take Uncharted for instance, that was supposed to be a fantasy Lord of the Rings type game until Sony told Naughty Dog to make it a third person shooter. They try new things and arent afraid to look at whats hot right now. Nintendo showed signs that they cared about that stuff with metroid, but mostly just follow their own hearts and that has become Nintendos calling card.  If Metroid Prime was on the PS2 I probably would have purchased it because it would have another companies direction and gameplay style.  Take Halo 4 for instance, I was about to write off the whole franchise until I actually saw 343's take on the franchise. It looks like a Metroid/Halo hybrid. Want to know what would fuck Sony over for good? If Nintendo made games for all age groups Sony and Microsoft would have their work cut out for them. As they said, Nintendo is in their own generation. Personally, I agree.

Uncharted 1,2,3 and 4?
God of war 1,2,3,4....
Talking about milking...theyre the same game with upgraded grafics....
Lbp 1,2 next year the 3rd?
And all this in seven years.....lol

@S.T.A.G.E. I don't feel like you're answering my questions though. My original question was, take Metroid Prime as it was (as is, no different philosophy), and see it released on the PS2, would you have bought it. That's what I really want to know. And it wouldn't be anyone to blame but Nintendo for failing at setting the right image in your eyes. But I ask cause I wanna know.

As for 343's take on Halo 4, I understand what you mean. Do you think Nintendo doesn't do that enough? Wouldn't you say SS, Galaxy and Metroid Prime were both whole new takes on their respective series? Was it not enough?

I have lots of questions because they are never answered. I seek answers, but it's rare I get a chance to ask them to Sony fans without them getting upset so I'm taking full advantage of this chance (I want to know).

Yes, but they're all IPs new from this gen. Nintendo and 3rd parties all did this in the NES days. Problem is, Nintendo still hasn't stopped, and we're 5 gens down the road (NES -> SNES -> 64 -> Cube -> Wii -> WiiU)

@S.T.A.G.E. What are the Santa Monica franchises, MLB and GoW? Keep in mind, Nintendo has made a few new IPs this gen or the one before it, but not for the core market. These were mostly Art Academy, Nintendogs, Brain Age,Trace Memory, Spirit Mirror, Pushmo, Endless ocean, Wii Sports, Wii Play, Pandora's Tower, Baten Kaitos (I think that's Nintendo's now), Smash is still relatively new, but just none in the nitty gritty or sci-fi genre.

-Uncharted 4 is coming during the next console. Naughty Dog didnt want to over do it and besides the Uncharted 4 couldn't have a large graphical leap on the PS3 any longer so the next will be on the PS4.

-God of War: 1 & 2 came out on the PS2, 3 and the prequel are on the PS3.

- There is no little big planet 3, at least not yet. Little big planet Karting is it.

Now let us count properly:

Three Uncharteds

Two Little Big Planets

Two InFamous titles

Three Resistance titles

One Killzone

One Heavy Rain

One Heavenly Sword

and much, much more

The reason things dont get old on the PS3 is because even though there are hot titles theres always something interesting thrown in between. On the console itself nothing goes beyond a third.

Halo 3

Halo Wars

Halo ODST

Halo Reach

Halo 4

Gears of War

Gears of War 2

Gears of War 3

Gears of War: Judgement.

This is called burning out franchises. Then again for Microsoft, when you dont have much thats all you can do.
