Apart from new IPs, what could Nintendo do to make Prime a more compelling title. The reason I ask is because I'm assuming, would ND release UC4 on the PS3/4, you would likely buy it. What is it about Prime that failed to compel you back to the Nintendo platform, and how similar is it to gears in that regards? What of it is better than gears, what is similar and what is worse. Lastly, is it possible that Nintendo, as a company, turned you off, and that affected your opinion on their games? To expand, had Prime released on the PS2, would you have bought it? |
Metroid already is a compelling title, it just isn't made by the top FPS developers. Despite that it is a great franchise which doesn't need help. The problem with Nintendo titles is they keep making the same games that are always stuck together into a ball of rehashed events over and over and over again. Naughty Dog likes to work on new titles dont like being held down to one franchise, they've always been that way. The same goes for Sony Santamonica. Sony has to give the go ahead to what they do though. Take Uncharted for instance, that was supposed to be a fantasy Lord of the Rings type game until Sony told Naughty Dog to make it a third person shooter. They try new things and arent afraid to look at whats hot right now. Nintendo showed signs that they cared about that stuff with metroid, but mostly just follow their own hearts and that has become Nintendos calling card. If Metroid Prime was on the PS2 I probably would have purchased it because it would have another companies direction and gameplay style. Take Halo 4 for instance, I was about to write off the whole franchise until I actually saw 343's take on the franchise. It looks like a Metroid/Halo hybrid. Want to know what would fuck Sony over for good? If Nintendo made games for all age groups Sony and Microsoft would have their work cut out for them. As they said, Nintendo is in their own generation. Personally, I agree.
