Anything by Grasshopper Manufacture (Suda51). Killer 7, No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw, etc.

3D Dot Game Heroes from Atlus.

A lot of excellent open world type games, many already mentioned, that are simply restricted by memory on consoles so the visuals are drawn down.

All of the Zeboyd Games titles (Breath of Death VII, Cthulhu Saves the world and Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 which is coming out on monday), however they're meant to be reminiscent of 16-bit JRPGs. These games are awesome though.

Earth Defense Force 2021 and Nier. I loved the games but graphics were weak, especially Earth Defense Force.

That's EDF 2017, infidel.

And its graphics are THE BEST.

i was the guy who said that. yeah i would say most games which are good have at least decent graphics as well because developers who make good games put much effort in a game which you will see not only in gameplay or sound or graphics, you will see it in every part of the game. at least no part will be horrible. and most games with great graphics aren't horrible in sound or gameplay.

because i think they know as well that they wouldn't be successful if the game would look like shit (let's say an ego-shooter) even if it would have a little bit better gameplay than battlefield 3. but if there would be such a game, i would prefer battlefield 3 (i only know the wonderful pc version, can't say anything about the console graphics)

Silent Hill Homecoming was decent (depending on your definition of decent, it was to me) and the graphics were pretty shit. I don't usually care much about graphics but the PS2 games were more pleasing than this, the characters' hair was made out of deformed playdough.

I guess you can call games like PJ:Monsters & Encore that. Very pixelated in contrast to triple-A HD games. Also, the collections for Metal Gear Solid and such would go on my list. I play them when ever there is something good. Graphics aren't the end game for me, story and game play is.

Sure, usually those types of games come from the smaller studios. Things like Recettear, Disgaea 3, Atelier Rorona, and to a lesser extent Pandora's Tower.

I was obviously talking about the Metro 2021 and EDF 2017 mashup that came out last week.

Dang, now my mind is curious of what would happen if there was a mashup.  Start off underground like Metro then the EDF comes save the day.  EDF EDF EDF EDF!!!!

All I'm picturing are those goddamn interminable ant hill levels.

Just been playing Battalion Wars 2 and although the in-game graphics are perfectly functional, the actual cutscene graphics seem really poor.  Like late PS1/early PS2-era poor:

Also, although on the whole I thought Resistance 2 was a really beautiful game, there were just occasions of weird stuff that bugged me, like two-dimensional water falling from the ceiling.  Only noticed it because of the IGN review though, admittedly :P
