I hope they go 3D with this one like they were hinting at. The crowd that followed Melee and Brawl put me off of the game with their obossively linear play style(ie. the same few character and only 1 or 2 of the 20+ levels used)

Wow, they are really only just starting development? Brawl came out in 2008. O_o

Bought the last 2 Nintendo consoles for Brawl and Melee, Will get WiiU for this Smash, most likely.

Sakurai developed Kid Icarus Uprising... It was long stated that SB would start once that was done with.

Not surprising at all--at last year's E3, Iwata outright told us that Smash Bros would be Sakurai's next project after Kid Icarus.
