Pikmin? Xenoblade? The Last Story?

Nintendo didnt make Xenoblade or the Last Story.

Erm... Xenoblade was made by Monolith Soft, which is owned by Nintendo.

Nintendo weren't the developers of The Last Story, not actually owning Mistwalker, but it was made in collaboration with Nintendo, and financed by Nintendo, and thus is still counted, as much as Pokemon (made by GameFreak, a second-party developer for Nintendo) is still a Nintendo series.

Interesting Namco must've sold the shares to Nintendo. Theres never been a Xenoblade game exclusive to Nintendo or even on it, its usually Playstation. This explains why there was no Xenoblade on the PS3 this gen.

You're about six years late on that. Nintendo bought Monolith Soft outright in 2006, but Namco does retain some share, as Mr. T-Tar pointed out.

Sorry, I don't pay attention to Nintendos acquisitions.  A very underrated purchase though.

Meh, I don't care that much about exclusives, as long as I GET the games, and they play as good as the other console versions. The controller will allow for a unique enough experience that it will be almost like an exclusive game anyway, even if it is on other platforms.

Nintendo isn't going to get very many multiplats after the first two years. Exclusives do matter, I suggest you get used to that understanding whether its first, second or third party. The Wii U is going to get form fitted exclusives that take advantage of the hardware.

I understand nintendo... no money left after this  :(

LMAO! Goodness, Monster Hunter 4 coming to the 3DS is really killing the Sony fans. Where was it said that Nintendo payed for MH4? I know about Tri but I've heard nothing about 4.

it wasn't said, but it's very difficult to think otherwise. And it's very difficult to think it wasn't a mega moneyhat, as this is, at least to me, the biggest megaton ever*.  No single game can hurt a system more than this one, imo.

*Assuming it still is exclusive at launch, of course.

Did you really write this whole post on your own, or did you copy it?

I wrote it. Didn't take as long as you think, and I like correcting massive misconceptions.

Nintendo doesn't need force people to only buy games on their system to get them to get the customers.

The casuals will not play a huge part in next gen like they did this gen. Nintendo will need the core. We dont need a repeat case for Nintendo like the Gamecube.

There's a way to "pay" for third party content without "paying" for it.

Simply waive the licensing fees for certain games that stand to benefit the platform. I suspect this is the deal Nintendo worked out with Capcom for Monster Hunter as they knew it would move systems, so its win-win. Capcom gets a sweetheart deal with extra profit per unit and Nintendo gets a system seller in Japan.

I'd go to Rockstar for example and say "look we heard you're not making GTAV for Wii U. What if we waive the $10-$12/unit licensing fee for the first 500k units? If you sell more than 500k than porting the game will have been more than worth it anyway. Throw in some tablet functionality".

So the Wii U version would yield Rockstar an extra $10-$12 in profit per copy for the first 500k ... that's probably a pretty damn good incentive to get them to make sure the Wii U gets a version.

If you're Nintendo this doesn't really hurt you at all either because before you weren't getting GTAV period. Now if the game does fairly well on the Wii U (over 500k), then at least you get some licensing fee sales there on top of maybe selling a few systems in the process or at least widening the appeal of your library.

The 3DS proves you wrong. It is the best selling console so far. And I am sure 70% of the customers are "causual".

Wii Sports (and Sports Resort)

Wii Fit (And Fit Plus)

Wii Play

NintendoLand

Xenoblade

The Last Story

Pandora's Tower

Wii Music

Luigi's Mansion

Oh silly me how could I forgot Wii Sports and Wii Fit.

As far as new IP's this gen they are THE most successful ones... Nintendo crushed all other new IP's sale-wise

Maybe if MS packed Halo 3 with every 360 sold...

Oh yes, because the 20 million (or more) selling Wii Play and Wii Fit and Wii SPorts Resorts were all bundle with a wii...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
