You can say whatever you want and deny it however you want, but games like Bioshock Dead Space Bayonetta or The Witcher don´t sell on the Wii.

I don't think anyone is denying that.  With the exception of Dead Space (albeit being a good, but not great, on-rails spin off) none of them released on the Wii

What about MadWorld and Red steel they did not sell really good.

Well they must leave third parties some genres were they can earn money...

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I'd say Red Steel sold too good considering how much of shitty game it was. MadWorld also didn't sell very good because it wasn't good, blood and and guts are not enough to make a game good. Not to menion I'd like to see how much a black and white game would sell on 360/Ps3.

Because Nintendo prefers to milk the same franchises over and over and over and over again.

Said the guy who is palying Street fighter 16 vs Tekken 9.

It's funny, some of the best HD third party games I've played actually have similarities to Nintendo franchises, which is probably why I like them so much.

Imagine a game where you're left in a strange environment, with basic abilities at the start of the game, but you slowly attain more powerful abilities as you progress through the game world. Is that Metroid or BioShock?

Then there's the two batman games. The first was another Metroid like experience, and the second expanded on that and added elements of Zelda.

Well, as freebs2 stated, Red Steel sold very well actually given it's mediocre quality.  Something happened with the sales of the game on this site, they were once much better, over a million (about 1.5m if I recall correctly), IGN wrote on 26/04/07 that sales were then (less than 6 months after launch) 950k (Link: http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/783/783826p1.html ).  It's sequel didn't sell all that well, but I think that was a by-product of the first game selling quite well; many potential buyers had a bad taste in their mouths, as well as the fact that RS2 required WM+ which shrunk the potential market for the game.

Madworld sold 690k, which is certainly enough for the game to break even and make a moderate profit.  As you said, it didn't sell really well, but I would say that they were quite good considering the niche nature of the game and it's artstyle, not to mention that a friend and I completed the game over the course of one afternoon, evening and night when I was staying over (it took us just over 5 hours I think).

As a whole I would say that the 3rd party, so called 'core' games for the Wii that deserve high sales got them.  Monster Hunter 3 is fantastic and one of my favourite games of this generation, it's sold over 2m on the Wii and is the highest selling home console game in the series.  The only exception I would say is Tales of Graces, which despite being high quality was affected by loads of bugs, releasing the same week as FFXIII and a superior PS3 port coming about a year later.  Dragon Quest X should also sell very well when it releases in August.

And by 'core' games, I don't mean games like Super Mario Galaxy or Zelda. I mean games similar to the ones that 3rd parties would make. I mean a game with realistic figures, violence, & some guns. Maybe a little blood too. Just to prove a point to 3rd parties.. Why hasn't Nintendo made a game similar to Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, etc?

Mario Galaxy is in the Mario franchise; this is the very definining franchise in the videogame industry, you don't get more "core" than that.

The games you listed are all newer and lesser known franchises. Being more violent doesn't make them more of a "core" videogame.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I suspect that, for some reason, the European sales number has gotten screwed up. The NA number is 0.54 million, which sounds about right if Europe and "rest of world" sold a similar amount.

Indeed, if you look at the European summary page for it, there's no data at all for sales before 2011. This would strongly explain the strange number.

But most importantly, Ubisoft's own numbers from year ending March 2009 says that the Red Steel franchise has sold over 1 million. Note that didn't release until March 2010, and so, despite Red Steel 2 being listed under the franchise, it isn't included in the sales total. From memory, I seem to recall Red Steel sitting somewhere around 1.1-1.2 million, before the data was lost.

Nintendo has made plenty of core games this gen, from Galaxy 2, to Xenoblade, to TLS, to Zelda, to DKCR, and many others.

What you meant to ask is 'why didn't Nintendo make any 18-rated games for the Wii?', which are two things entirely. Those mentioned games are far more 'core' and 'difficult' than most of the generic FPS' doing the rounds on the HD systems currently, and, as such, sold much better.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

1. True hardcore games dont sell very much
2. True hardcore games are based on complex gameplay mechanics
3. True hardcore games are long lasting
4. True hardcore games are not realistic
