How is this a flamebait thread?  I have a good feeling that the guilty parties will never admit to anything, so they likely won't even comment.  And I have not put down the actions of Microsoft or Sony, as these promotions ARE good business ideas.  I only brought this up because this was repeatedly brought up as a negative last year by those on the site that have shown a clear bias AGAINST Microsoft and the 360 and yet Sony is doing it this year.  So what will they say now that Sony is doing the same thing?  Will this be brought up as a negative when sales comparisons come up again?

If you weren't guilty of this in the past, why should this thread even offend you?

Crickets will make an orchestra song before Sony fans criticize Sony for doing this as well :P

C'mon, Jay.  I know you're a big PS fan.  You KNOW this stuff was happening.  You KNOW the ones that kept banging this drum to diminish whatever sales boost (real or implied) that came from it were out there and are still out there doing what they do.  If more of you balanced PS fans would call out the trolls then maybe we could help weed out those that are hurting the community.  Roaches run when you turn the lights on.

That is true, but it's just not relavent anymore. If these trolls were doing this recently, then you'd have a point. But this happened many months ago. Most of them have forgotten about it and moved on to new ways to troll the 360. So your point is kind of moot.

To be honest, I don't really remember a lot of the trolling from last year concerning this particular topic. Probably because it was so ridiculous, I never took it seriously. When I see trolling, I typically laugh and/or expose their trolling so they can see. You should not take trolls so seriously. Just look at them as a form of entertainment, rather than valuable people worth proving wrong about an incident that happened so long ago.

Yes you do, and you made lots of posts about how it was a sales booster for the 360, and how the sales from the deal shouldn't count as it was technically cheating, and how SONY would never do that because they are the most amazing company in the world. We all did, don't you remember?

I'm only replying to you because you're one of the reasonable Sony fans on here.  I don't think the issue was with the people criticizing/commenting on Microsoft's marketing in the past, more the crowd that went around trying to decree that a promotion that included free 360's shouldn't be included in sales which frankly, was bonkers.

I'd personally edit the last bit of your post, not really worth risking getting reported over, although I think the thread is in poor taste and probably should've been locked by a mod on the title alone.

I uderstand your point but it is coming off a litle too sharp to be considering an enlightened discussion, as you can see not many are taking it that way.

Oh and I liked the 360 deal last year and if I was in the market for a computer I would have gotten one, but would have been hesitant and upset over having to pay for Xbox Live.
