The hardware box would be huge, hot and noisy considering what would have to be in it to justify that price.

Not really something you are going to put by your TV set.

A considerable amount of the console market demographic would find it unattractive to purchase compared to its' smaller, more ergonomic competitors.

No the hardware device is small not noisy and it's revolutionizing the way people play games and everyone is loving it. It's a very attractive device and completely new technology.

Then it wouldn't cost  $1000, it's imposible, unrealistic, crazy!

Now, strictly answering your question (with your conditions), no i would not buy it.

Realistically, for $1000 and the best graphics out there, it wouldn't be small and quiet unless that company somehow stumbled onto some fancy nano-technology all by themselves.

Unless...this thread isn't meant to be realistic at all. =O

I thought this pertained to what MS is currently trying with 360.

I refuse to pay over 300 dollars for a game machine, so I wouldn't ever buy that. Likewise, I refuse to pay over 60 dollars for a game. I guess next gen can count me out for a while. Or...I will just buy a wiiu Holiday 2013 and have that tide me over till 2015 or 2016 when the PS4 is reasonably priced.

it better have some damn good games.

I don't think I'd be willing to spend over 500 dollars. PS3 graphics are good enough for me. I don't need anything over-the-top.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

i have never paid more than 250$ for a console, but ill be buying WiiU day one no matter what
other than that i would never pay more than 100$ for a non Nintendo console

I already spend about $1000 a year just buying games, so yes I'll get it...

Menx64

3DS code: 1289-8222-7215

NNid: Menx064

I would get it simply because if people out there buy iphones at redicoulus prices for the limited shit it offers, to me the console you described would present better value for money.

Sure I would. I have paid more in the past for a strictly gaming pc. (pre internet)

Ok hear me out.

What if a company, whether it's Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo/Google/Apple whatever came out with a video game console, with graphics better then anything out there, and a new innovative style of gameplay that everyone liked and had all the games you would ever want and costed $1000 for the console itself. Now what if that company offered a monthly plan of like $50 or $100 a month until that $1000 is payed off (with interest of course). Would you be tempted to buy that console?

What would your thoughts be on paying monthly JUST UNTIL YOU PAY OFF THE CONSOLE. Because paying monthly forever on a video game console would be the biggest fail known to man.

I spent over $3000 on a PC, $1000 alone in the graphics card department, it has all the games I want, everything and more. Problem ofcourse are developers not catching up with the times yet, but case in point - a PC Gamer would and should be more inclined to purchase something like this - provided the games were there, and screw interest. Loans, Contracts? Those are scams, wait and save and then get it. It then belongs to you, and in the mean time the price could drop, or it can go on sale.
