Forums - Sony Discussion - Destructoid Reviews Vita Resistance... holly hell...

Gonna ignore this review because, what I read about the reviewer, he seems to be an idiot.

That said, it seems to be averaging somewhere around 60 on Metacritic/Gamerankings, which seems fair.

I'm not sure why everybody expected more to be honest - It's Nihilistic Software, they're not known for great things, and Resistance is the lesser of Sony's two FPS licences.

With that said, I think that Burning Skies is absolutely the right thing to be coming out now.

WipEout 2048 was a demonstration to third parties of the graphical capabilities of the Vita.
Uncharted Golden Abyss was a demonstration to third parties of 'bringing a console experience' to the Vita, I also hear good things about the touch controls.
Resistance Burning Skies is a demonstration to third parties of the viability of multiplayer FPS games on the Vita. It's not great, no, but it works.

It's a gap-game, designed to fill in the time until one of the bigger hitters comes along (i.e. Blops 2, Killzone Vita) and in that respect, it looks like it succeeds.

I don't think Sony had much faith in this. The embargo was released the day the game released.

That's what had me doubting this game too.  As well as the fact that the gameplay videos weren't impressing anyone.

Still I don't like the idea of putting Sony's top studios on Vita games yet, with PS4 on the horizon and Vita selling poorly, these smaller studios need to pick it up. If they can't even make a decent portable experience, they have no value to the company - restructure them now. If they are independant, lesson learned, and do not go back to them.

*Why are we all bolded?

You know, I don't mean to knock on the game, but if Sony if trying to bring console experiences to a portable platform, this game doesn't look like it, at all. We'll see what Activision will do with CoD I guess.

Attempt to fix the code.

If everything is still bolded from now on, either you or a moderator will have to edit your post and put [ / b ] without spaces after your last word.

and here I thought we were paying respect to JIm Sterling by having everything bold

There's an even amount of negative and positive reviews on Metacritic. However, mixed is still king.

Meaning that this is obviously a love it or hate it title.

Reminds me of this wonderful game. Bought it for $12 but if I knew how great it would be I would have bought it for full price.

I mean, just look at the user score compared to the Meta.

Not really. If the positive and negative reviews were even and outweighed the mixed by a lot, then it would be love it or hate it. But the fact that there are more mixed than positive and negative combined basically indicates that it's mediocre or average at best.

Food for thought: Shove an apple in your brain

I never wanted this game and I'm not going to bother with the review but I will say this--If I wasn't a fan of Max Scoville and Tara Long, I'd have said, "Fuck Destructoid" a long time ago. Sterling always does this type of shit and I don't know why. It's like he has some sort of agenda or a point to make and as a result, people just trying to find out whether or not they want a game end up getting caught in the crossfire of his self important rants.

Nah, both critics-score and users-score on metacritic are both below average...

Alright! Playstation Lifestyle has been taken out as the top reviewer. Now it belongs to GamingXP with a score of 89. This game is going to get lots of mixed reviews, but now the positive as outweight the negative.

I'm personally surprised by Gametrailers review. Still haven't heard anything from Gamespot...
