Forums - Nintendo - What could Wii U bring to the Legend of Zelda?

I was wondering what were your thoughts about the future of TLOZ on Wii U.  What improvements could we see?

  • Graphics? (cell shading, realistic, paint-like, metallic)
  • Game lenght? (Longer adventure)
  • Game depht? (Open world forest/desert/mountain/castle/dungeon)
  • Gameplay? (Inventory management, 1st person view through the controller, treasure detection, map overview)
  • Overall experience?

Since Zelda is one of the most beloved franchise from Nintendo, I have no doubt this game will be awesome, and they will use all the power the machine can provide as they often do with their AAA IPs.

My best case scenario would be a realistic zelda but very colorful, with zome funny (but serious) character design that makes Zelda games so enjoyable.  We could walk into an open forest.  With all the HD textures, tree shadows, waterfall noise, birds' tweeter, horse riding, day/night cycle.  We could go into various cities and do side-quests, buy weapons, train, do minigames.

I just can't wait for a new Zelda, I'm sure it will be a real success.  But for now, discuss.

... indeed.

Idk but I'm hoping for rpg elements please. That would make wandering te Forrest do worth it! Think Zelda 2 or skyrim do Nintendo.

Wii gave us the sword, Wii U gives us the shield.

Wii U could bring to Zelda the amazing things DS gave to Phantom Hourglass like map annotations, total control over boomerang, microphone controls, among many many other things (damm, PH was so great!)

The large amounts of extra space on the disc will be perfect for voice acting, just hopefully not for Link.  We don't want a repeat of the CD-i trilogy of shit

That's actually a pretty good idea, but having the beetle instead of the boomerang would make more sense as it's already remote controlled. Ihope Nintendo will make great use of the gyroscope, like for instance when using the bow or hookshot, like in OoT 3D. Nintendo could bring that blow item from Spirit Tracks to make good use of the microphone and a new instrument (not the shitty harp, which was useless)
