cause... these woman are very special to me... and writing down the important stuff shows my respect for them... >_>

but ask this question again when you are 22...

Depends. I wrote my first novel when I was 13 years old. When other students were doing their reading hour, I was on the computer slowly typing away, creating a novel loosely inspired by Dragonball Z (shuddap, I was 13).

I then went on to write a 12 novel series while I was in high school. I only made it to book 9, because after finishing book 8, there was a catastrophic event that had the two sites I was posting it on lose all their data at the same time I lost the memory card it was on. Losing 8 novels worth of material...it upset me greatly, so I stopped wtiting midway through book 9 and haven't returned to it since. sadly, it was loosely based on a book series I was reading at the time, so it wouldn't be worth my time to rewrite them (they were fanfiction).

ever since having that project crumble in my hands, I took some time off, but have since started planning another novel series - this time 100% original in a fantasy land I've created. I've been working on an encyclopedia and atlas to flesh out the world, as well as a 6-novel layout for the plot. I have hundreds of characters, dozens of locations, and a world map. I've even had a discussion about the planet's axial tilt and gravitational pull, just for the hell of it. I want this world to be awesome, and in addition to the 6 novel series (what's known as volume 1, there will be a volume 2 and 3, as well), I'm also doing an anthology of short stories and a complete novel/series explaining the religion and history of the world.

I also have another 3-book sci-fi series planned, but it's lower priority.

What? Why are they important to you?

So...? Why do you have to write them down? They are your friends, correct? Shouldn't you remember their names and such without the need to write it down?

guys tend to be very forgetful, doubly so when they've imbibed alcohol.

Alcohol? Why would you be always drunk enough to not be able to remember names?

I'm in a similar position. I had a novel series where i started the first one when i was 13 (idea initially conceived at age 12), wrote parts of it on and off throughout high school, attempted to revisit it in college, but then i got snared in fan-fiction and haven't looked back. My parents are trying to convince me to "write something you can make money on," so i may get back to it, but in my case the world is developed far better than the characters, with maps, mythology, and an extensive political/military history. Characterization was never my strong suit before i started writing fanfiction, but in FF i've found that my strength has been characterization and my weakness has been action, so i could revive it with a rethink of my characters...

As a teenager. Wrote some pages and got bored.

Today, though my writing skills are not bad, I simply lack imagination.

I did something similar. I lacked the patience to stick to it, despite have a good number of ideas. Additionally, English was not one of my best subjects at school and any project would lack the depth with regards to both characters and setting.
