Star Ocean the last Hope was my favorite. Actually my favorite is Final Fantasy 13-2 but Im still waiting for versus 13.

The best RPG no matter what type in my opinion is Chrono Trigger.

This game is not only the best JRPG but the best RPG period!!!!!!!

I'm not much of a JRPG junkie but...

Pokemon Black/White was awesome.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door was also awesome.

I hear the term "JRPG" thrown around a lot, but no one can ever give me a straight answer as to what actually constitutes a "JRPG", I always considered Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy just regular RPGs.

Kingdom Hearts, no questions, it is the absolute best RPG, EVAH!

And I like Pokemon quite a bit...

Suikoden III and Chrono Trigger. Suikoden was such a great game to me. The only game I played twice back to back. I missed a good bit of the 108 Stars of Destiny on the first go around and just had to get them all on the second go. One hell of a game. It was also the first game I played in the Suikoden series and the first non Final Fantasy JRPG I played.

Ogre battle 64, Pokemon, Chrono trigger, Arc rise fantasia, Xenoblade, Breath of fire, Star ocean, Suikoden...

Why exclude Dragon Quest? It's not like the series is mega popular in the west.

Anyway, probably Golden Sun: The Lost Age or Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword.
