Hello all. I'll be taking over Seece's 360 Vs. PS3 thread since he left and I want to see that thread continue on as I find it interesting. I will update this thread every month with numbers and every few months I'll edit everything for adjustments.

So, can the PS3 remain in the lead for 2012?

September Update

The PS3 adds another 127k to it's lead over the 360 for the month of August and it's roughly 73k ahead of last years lead over the 360 (1,345k last year, 1,427k for this year). The PS3 got a huge gap increase last year in September due to the $50 price cut. Although with the new super slim expect the PS3 to get at least around a 160-200k lead for October (barring a 360 price cut that is)

BTW. You need to correct your global numbers. The gap between Ps3 and Xbox 360 was 328k

I think PS3 can maintain the lead again this year.
-Last year 360 had a Gears 3 bundle, this year it had Kinect Star Wars which didn't really boost it past PS3.
-Last year 360 had a MW3 bundle, this year it has Halo 4 bundle. The HW boost should be very similar.
-Last year the Kinect effect was still pretty strong, this year it's not.
-360 slim momentum was also present last year.

It is 2012 and the 360 has nothing refreshing, it has no momentum going for it like it did in 2011. It would take a price cut for it to have a chance to surpass the PS3 this year. Oh and we also got Wii U coming out. Who knows how that will affect PS360 holiday sales.

Interesting. I wasn't expecting PS3 to be in the lead like this. I wonder how E3 announcements will change things. Price cuts? Market apathy after new console announcements? or just business as usual?

Pricecuts + big games = 360 win.

3DS and Wii U will damage PS3 in Japan.

PS3 will need a new Slim AND a cut to compete. Simply too much for 360 this Holiday.

I reckon 360 can go past the PS3 if Microsoft is willing to accept lower profit margins.

They might not be due to increased R&D costs, but time will tell.

A price cut could really help out PS3 sales. It is currently the most expensive console out of the three.

It would be a fair comparison of "momentum" if you include what Ps3 had last year and is not present this year as well. Not just the 360s. 

PS3 will win it. PABR & LBP:K will move consoles.
