For me it's gotta be around £5000 so that's ish $8000, that puts my life average at $400 a year, not too bad :)

something in the 1000-2000 area
If not for gaming I would spend this money for hookers Alcohol clothes the usual stuff.
Consoles alone would be 3-4 grand I think. The games would put it over ten thousand.
Time for hype
Almost all of my video games were gifted to me up until about 10 years ago with the occasional exception. My PS2 was pretty much my first true VG purchase. And I actually got my PS3 and first two games for it pretty much for free (won a gift card at the local mall back in 2009). On top of that I got about $400 worth of free Rock Band DLC abusing a bottle cap contest that went on back in the day. Damn, I've been lucky. I'd ball park it at about $4000-$6000.
+20k my PS3+stuff probably sums up to more than 5k...
A car and the insurance for the +3 years I would have it now...
Oh fuck...
Probably about £10,000 shared between me, my mum and my brother
Hard to say but my PC's alone have set me back about 6000$, ad consoles, accessories and games and its probably way over 20.000$ in the twenty or so years I've been gaming.
30.000$ perhaps?
This has turned into 'My willy is bigger than yours' competition. So for that reason, I'm Out! :)

About the same for me. Lifetime is hard to say because it used to be PC hardware and pirated software while now it's not much money put on PC hardware (I never get around to build that new PC) and instead much more spent on PS3 software. Maybe 20k lifetime for me (excluding the coin-op Arcades, that's too hard to estimate).
My budget towards gaming is around 1500 Euros per year (including hardware of any kind) but there are odd years when I don't reach that number.
I really have no idea how much I spend, but I wouldn't be surprised if I spend about a $1000 a year.
Not a ton considering its my primary source of entertainment. But I'm starting to cut back.
