Because you'll be sooo much better off with Mitt Romney.

LOL! No! So far, there isn't anyone that I'm remotely interested in for 2012. It's a lose-lose situation. Still, he needs out.
A ban on any form of marriage, no matter at what level of Government, is unconstitutional.
As for this statement? So what? Who cares if he's pro or anti gay marriage? It's not going to change a thing. This is what I hate about democracy, people will change their vote based on this statement, and, yet, it means fuck all.
Funny how he's pro gay marriage, but supports states rights on this issue.... can you think of any other issue that he thinks the states should be allowed to disagree with him?

Medicinal marijuana laws. He supports the rights of states to permit it, and he supports even more the right of the DEA to totally ignore that shit and raid people's houses anyway.
Not sure if it is a smart move for popularity, but it is the right move for equality. Crazy move considering minorities are more likely to appose gay marriage and he needs them to win especially the Latino vote.

Gay people should be able to experience the misery that marriage can bring, just like the rest of us.

In any case it almost certainly is his genuine view - it was his previous statements about an 'evolving position' that came across as disingenuous. |
I doubt it... though it is more or less the perfect law to target.
Since it doesn't actually do anything... it was just a stupid republican ploy to get bush reelected by making gay marriage even more illegalier.
Now if gay marriage gets passed... then i'll be impressed.
Sadly though I actually think gay marriage won't get passed until either
A) There is a moderate Republican/Libretarian president with a Democratic Majority. Trying to "call there bluff" to cost him an election.
B) A Republican group gets gay marriage won through the courts. (Just like don't ask don't tell. Which would still be around if it wasn't for that.)
Really, i don't understand how it isn't ruled unconstiutional... I GUESS under the basis that Marriage (in the legal sense) is essentially not a right but a construction of the state?
However i'm pretty sure there is case law that contradicts that. So really i'm confused.

Good for you, Obama. Furthermore; good for America, being more in line with other parts of the West might not be a bad idea in these times.

Hey, if Mitt Romney was President half the shit Obama did that he also would of did woulda had huge democratic opposition and loud noise would of been made agaisnt it.
Though yeah... Mitt Romney is essentially Obama but a little lamer on social issues, and wanting to try that other half of failed economic policies that the US tends to switch between during times of crisis.
