Move to L.A.
You will see there is nothing special.

Haha yeah i'd agree with this, I spent 12 months living in orange county & spent a ton of time In L.A during then. Came from Gold Coast Australia originally which is like california lite. Our population (female at least) spends our lives looking up to L.A, But got there, 1st 3 months were great after that the girls turned out to be more politic-y & dramatic than my group in australia & the reality of the 'california lite'-ness meant just a simlar environment to home but with more people & more polluted. It really wasnt anythig flash, I'd highly recommend it for a holiday but not to live. Just personal experience of course, though my housemate is from Beverly Hills & she is loving her time away from there (coming on 2 years) currently too with no plans to go back.

I would say 180 degrees reverse that, Australia (your homeland) seems to be one of the best places to live in, social and youth life there seems great.

Every single Australian I've met this far is easy going and friendly.

I wouldn't. IMO the UK is a much better place to live than the US. The education system is better, the healthcare policies are better, and the overall lifestyle is better. Plus if you're interested in the lifestyle or all the "glamour" stuff you see in the movies, then just go to the US for a visit. You'll see that America isn't anything special. This is coming from an American.

Oh and btw, you'll see a lot of fat people here. And by a lot, I mean A LOT. No offense to anyone.

Thanks, Australia is ok, but it too has its issues, Personally if I could choose I'd live in Japan, but I Just dont fit in there (being a blonde haired blue eyed spent my life living in a beach city type) but Harajuku is my fashion mecca, If I could live there I would spend twice the fortune I already do on clothing. For chill factor I've found NZ to be amazing though, nothing fazes these guys. But L.A & the O.C just wasnt my scene, though we do worship those places almost religiously in Australia. If you told any Gold Coast girl (except one with experinces like mine) that Aussie was better than L.a you'd be lynched, haha.

many people get confused by movies it's crazy. like everyone in a country would be super rich just because the people in the movies are^^ german movie industry works like that as well, always some people living in a castle and things like that. if someone would always see that he would believe germans live all in castles with butler and 20 own gardeners^^ sure usa has the most billionairs but there also live clearly the most people of all developed countries so people shouldn't think there live 150 million super rich. if this would be the case, you would all own a 360, wii and ps3 and everyone would be happy^^

For anyone thinking of moving to Southern California and who wants to live coastal, the only cities I've grown to really like around here are Carlsbad, San Clemente, and La Jolla. La Jolla is an amazingly posh and kickass beach town, but it's more expensive to live in. Carlsbad and San Clemente are very homely towns that haven't succumbed to big business and tourist expansion.

Can't say much about cities north of L.A.

Dude why are you even considering America? If you like the UK and you enjoy democracy hate racism and hypocrisy. Then Canada is the country you want to consider moving to. The country is even ruled by the Queen who remains our head of state. Morally and ethically Canada and the UK are nearly a match.

The US economically will never recover but Canada has vast resources and a lower population to support. In Canada there are multiple different environments. If you don't mind snow then Toronto or Ottawa would be smart choices. If you don't like snow then Vancouver and the lower mainland in British Columbia would be the place to go. Want a job in gaming move to Montréal and you will get the impression you are in the EU.

Canada is the absolute perfect country to consider. Plus if you move here you can visit the US often. You get the best of both worlds. Canada has almost everything America does except the NetFlix library lol.

The US will never recover, now?

I'm not at all one to be nationalistic, but that's just untrue.

My statement is based on a report from The Bank of Canada and the IMF. The day before the state of the Union The Bank of Canada issued a statement. The statement was supported on the news in an interview with a member of the IMF. They stated America would get better, however that America will never recover to where it was a few years ago. They said the US is past the point of return it will never be the country it used to be. The world is running out of resources and the planets powers are beginning to collapse financially. Canada is one of the best prepared countries in the world for a global meltdown. I do not intend to leave this country for longer then a few months at a time. Canada's wealth in its resources!

Boston is the best city in America, hands down.

I am offended by two things in this thread.

1) Somehow it became a pro-Canadian thread.

2) That Chicago was not mentioned. It's just like the big East Coast cities, but clean and more friendly.
