Forums - Gaming - PS Vita isn't a 'very strong product', claims Miyamoto

Gravity Rush looks pretty cool, but it's more or less a sandbox game. Game actually did pretty good in Japan. We might see the same results in America and Europe.

He's basically saying what everyone else saying. It needs softwares.

Yeah, judging from the title I expected a criticism with a more wicked tone, instead he was nice and honest. Very obvious too, but anyway he gave Sony an obvious but right advice. Now Malstrom will hate him even more!!!

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")

Here is one way Sony can offer another USP with the Vita. Instead of bit-sized PS3 games like GA, they should make wholly new marketable IPs like uncharted, but exclusive to the Vita, making their way to the home line after market success. Kind of like Pokemon, it stayed mostly exclusive to the portable line, with a few camios and sub-games here and there.

At first I didn't understand why Nintendo kept Pokemon RPG exclusive to the portable console line, but now after almost 15 years I'm starting to get it. It was a sacred product, the risk involved in putting it in 3D on the home consoles could have damaged the brand. That was a smart move in the end. Luckily NSMB DS was a different story, because they kept it in 2D on the Wii, the market was more ready for a 2D experience on a home console at that point as compared to the 64 era.

Yes, SONY need a portable exclusive franchise. I think games like Gravity Rush are needed as well, new and unique experiences that are suitable for a handheld. I can't wait for E3, I want to see what SONY are doing with the Vita.

Can the thread title be changed? It has nothing to do with what Miyamoto said, it can be easily taken out of context, if anything it is flame bait.

I don't mean to be a prick, but this is a VG sales site, use the numbers.

wow logic sinks to new illogical levels...  btw those charts have been updated after adjustments.... looks even worse now.

To be fair, I see what he means, that the 3DS was in a similar position. Yet still for some reason its sales were much stronger even prior to the price drop.

So somehow the 3DS was still more compelling than the Vita H1 of year 1. Was it the e-shop, was it the 3D? Was it the fact that customers knew good games were coming? Street Fighter IV maybe? idk honestly.

Backwards compatibility.

The double standard is hilarious - just imagine how this thread would have gone if the roles were reversed and a Sony representative said something negative about a Nintendo product.

Here are a few words you would have seen a lot: douchebag, liar, copy, arrogant, fud.

Tell me one thing that Miyamoto said which was not correct. He is just saying what every none-Sony fan (and even some Sony fans that are on the fence) is saying.

Where did I say he wasn't correct? My comment was targeted at the community of this site. I don't care what the PR people or other representatives of whatever company say. They can say whatever the fuck they want. I'm just amused how different the community-reaction is depending on which company is at the receiving end of the criticism.

Please quote examples, what are you talking about?^^^^

As far as I remember, everyone was talking about how horrendous the 3DS lineup was, and that was true. Same goes for the Vita at the moment, which is being reflected in its hardware and software sales.
