Unless you have a lot of disposable income it never makes sense to buy into a new gaming platform for one game. Especially one that's just been released, is still in the post launch software lull that happens without fail for new platforms, and when the hardware itself is guaranteed to be the most expensive it will ever be.

Unless you buy everything as it comes out, or you happen to have a ton of PSN PSP games and your PSP is currently broken there's no rush.

Goku wasn't a very strong fighter. Then, he went Super Saiyan.

Wha? Goku was always very strong, even in his youth days. You need to brush up on your DBZ history. I advice you to watch the entire Dragonball series to refresh your memory.

Fixed. The original series wasn't called Z, not in the anime either. Regardless, the manga is much better than the animated show and should be chosen any day :P

Oh, there's Gravity Rush. Naturally a title like that has a limited niche appeal, but it was a critical success in Japan. The demo is in PSV kiosks in stores. Good enough for a Day 1 purchase from me. Unique title, new IP, not available on any other platform.

My rule of thumb used to be three titles I'd buy the same day as the new hardware (meaning released, not in development), but that didn't really happen for the PSV, the 3DS, the PS3 or the Wii.

If it's not immediately available software that drives the purchase, then just snag the first good retail deal/bundle you find. I'd be surprised if there weren't any for the holiday season.

Becasue it knew what it was... it was a handheld with a USP.  The Vita USP seems to be that it is a miniature PS3.... home console gaming in your hand... one question... why?

When Miyamoto talks about software I dont think he is talking about games (like most here seem to think - games being in short supply early on is a given).... he is talking about the device itself... its firmware... its purpose... its raison d'etre.

I don't really get what you mean.

If you exclude the games, the PS Vita is a solid product and it's not that different to the 3DS. The system's "purpose" is dependent on games in my opinion, whatever games SONY and other developers put on the PS Vita will decide what the system's purpose is, and that will determine the system's future. Firmware updates and price-cuts can iron out all the other creases. The only thing that SONY can't change is the hardware, which is pretty much flawless in my opinion, the only problem being that it isn't as portable as the 3DS.

So in short.

1. Miyamoto has a reasonable view of the PS Vita.
2. OP takes words out of context in thread title.
3. Attempt at shitstorm fails.

Did I miss anything?

@Darc Requiem Pretty much that.

Here is one way Sony can offer another USP with the Vita. Instead of bit-sized PS3 games like GA, they should make wholly new marketable IPs like uncharted, but exclusive to the Vita, making their way to the home line after market success. Kind of like Pokemon, it stayed mostly exclusive to the portable line, with a few camios and sub-games here and there.

At first I didn't understand why Nintendo kept Pokemon RPG exclusive to the portable console line, but now after almost 15 years I'm starting to get it. It was a sacred product, the risk involved in putting it in 3D on the home consoles could have damaged the brand. That was a smart move in the end. Luckily NSMB DS was a different story, because they kept it in 2D on the Wii, the market was more ready for a 2D experience on a home console at that point as compared to the 64 era.
