Yes you are.
The ReMake was an excellent game. Heck I don't think there is a single RE I haven't beaten though.
well the gamecube RE is a remake which i think it is better then the ps1 the game is about 85% different there an extra graveyard so yeah i think you should buy it
| NJ5 said: I never played this series, so in order to correct this I was thinking of picking up the original game first. Since I own a Wii and not a Playstation, I was wondering if the Gamecube port of the game was up to par. I'd be picking up a gamecube controller / memory card for the Wii pretty soon just for this game and the others in the series. It seems that it's hard to get an original Gamecube controller, so I might have to go with one of the clones, feel free to suggest one if you know about those :)

since you never played the series why dont you start off by playing RE0 also on gamecube and is a great game, then after that play1,2,3,4 though 2 and 3 arent very good on the cube the graphics are like n64

I would start at 1 though. Zero takes place before 1, but without playing 1 first you miss a lot of the background story that is needed to fully understand Zero. Also 1 is a little better then 0 (better story, better locations, scarier).
Be prepared to become totally addicted to the series!
If you havent played REmake... you basically havent played the best iteration of the classic style RE (i.e pre-RE4)

Yes. It is definately the best version. REmake is also the scariest. Definately worth it. But I'd say that Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever, and that you should buy that first (get the Wii version, only $30). One thing about pre-4 games is that they control like a tank, and you turn around slowly. There also isn't the over-the-shoulder camera while shooting. Each room has only one angle you can view it from, which allowed Capcom the ability to make it look so good graphically. However, the Resident Evil series is still amazing, and well worth the purchase.
NJ5 here, I can't log into my account so I'm using this one instead (already emailed ioi about it).
Thanks everyone for the replies, I have just ordered an used black GameCube controller, an extremely cheap (also used) memory card and a used version of the first Resident Evil game for a total of 51 €, i.e. about what a Wii game costs nowadays. All in all a pretty good deal as long as the controller is in good condition (it's supposed to be).
I think I'll play this one, and then if I like it I'll go on to play RE2, RE3 and RE4, I like to play series in the order they were made :)
In case you care, I'm NJ5, my account is not working so I'm using this one temporarily.
One the RE series was announced as a gamecube exclusive, Shinji convinced Capcom to start working on a Resident Evil 1 remake using Gamecube Hardware with improved controls and an updated interface. On release it was praised for its amazing graphics but almost everyone found the interface to be as archaic as its PS1 brethren.
Resident Evil 0 used the same engine and "archaic" control scheme as REmake, however it implemented a unique partner system which produced innovative gameplay styles and puzzles.
While REmake overshot Capcom's sales estimates, RE:0 did not meet its sales target. RE:0 failed to beat the sales of REmake and this sent Capcom executives into a tizzy over their support for the Gamecube. The poor sales of Project No. 3 (deservedly), Viewtiful Joe, Viewtiful Joe 2 and Killer 7 did not help nintendo's case.
Shinji Mikami took things in his stride and decided to concentrate all his efforts into revamping RE4. He decided to listen to his fans and critcis and took pains to revamp its gameplay style.
RE4 was released to great sales on the Gamecube, of course it did not help matters with Capcom blunting sales by announcing a PS2 port a few months before the Gamecube release. The gamecube release sold about 1.6 million (considering its install base and REmake sales of 1.4 million, sales were underwhelming. a lot of multiplatform owners holding out for a PS2 port with additional content), The PS2 version sold 2.5 million doing exceedingly well in Japan.
Capcom could consider a REmake+Resident Evil 0 Wiimake-Bundle for about 30-40$. I dont see why both games wont fit in a DVD9.
Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>
