Maybe so, but there is now denying their popularity is declining outside of Nintendo made games.

Edge gave it a 90, Destructoid as well. Maybe the game is actually good. And saying the game is an extended version of that flash game is liking saying gran turismo is an extended version of racing flash games. Sure the basic "gimmick" is the same, but the actual game is a much more complete experience with many extra features, or are you one of those graphics are the only thing that matters people?

I really care what individuals paid to review videogames so they can put food on their table think about videogames. Also I didn't attack the mechanics of the game or mention any 'gimmicks'. Your argument is so off tangent that you even randomnly bring up graphics. How you were able to discern so much rubbish from one passive aggressive statement directed towards IGN is beyond me.

Does it matter ? The flash game also looks great (and I just tried it).
However Sky Island was (amongst others) influenced by FEZ and the dev admits that:
"The game is influenced by most of the Super Mario titles, especially Super Paper Mario.
Other games which inspired this game are Crush and FEZ."

Now according to what he wrote, FEZ has 10 times the content of Sky Island.
It's not like Angry Birds, which was a 1:1 rip-off of the Crush the Castle flash game (which IMO is miles better) just with birds instead of the Middle Ages scenario.

Well the difference between Angry Birds and Crush the Castle is their aiming systems. Also I imagine FEZ will cost more than $1, so if anything he's obliged to ensure that the game has content worthy of its price, so 10 times the content of a free game isn't really noteworthy.
I'm just cynical towards reviewers in general.
