Forums - Gaming - First Capcom 'Captivate' event news appears: Lost Planet 3

A trailer from Captivate has shown that Spark Unlimited is developing the game for a 2013 launch on PS3 and 360.

Capcom is set to launch Lost Planet 3 next year, the game’s debut trailer from Captivate has announced. The video got out ahead of a general 4pm embargo this afternoon.

The trailer begins with a man named Jim running from a creature chasing after him in a station of some sorts. The pair then emerge to the series’s traditional snowy environment, where a standoff brews between the two.

jim shoots the creature chasing after him, but comes across a second monster. He has run of ammo and legs it to find a frozen mech, which emerges after being ‘awoken’.

Bleeding from his earlier encounter, Jim gets into the mech and sees the second enemy run away. A bigger monster then appears to take on the mech, but is eventually taken down.

A storm is then approaching on the horizon, to which the man in the mech escapes from. The game’s new logo then appears and confirms a 2013 launch for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

I actually love the premise of Lost Planet, the massive SOTC-esque enmies in a sci-fi setting with co-operative play, but handing off the development to Spark Unlimited is almost a guarantee that the game will be, well, a bit shit.

Here's to hoping the next Captivate anouncements are a little more...captivating.

I'm surprised this got green lit, the last one didn't sell up to expectations.

Makes DmC look amazing by comparison.

I thought Lost Planet 2 was a massive failure? Or am I confusing that with something else...

You probably had a vision of the future and are confusing it with Lost Planet 3.

Excellent news for the 5 people who cares!

hmm I suppose this means the games will be on sale on Steam soon, worth buying?

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

the first game was really good, so I'm very sad to see that they purposely try to make the sequel's sequel as bad as possible.

Only for a serious steam sale price, £5-£8 really (it's about that much on amazon now). You really need to find some people to play the game with in Co-op (online co-op), the campaign is pretty much designed around co-operative play and the AI is horse shit. It's worth it just for the boss battles against giant fucking insects though, and its got a nice customizable multiplayer component.

Not bad. Good news for the 2 people who still care after 2. Surprising news, though...

Surprised it won't be on WiiU, that is. Or maybe it will be?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
