Forums - Gaming - First Capcom 'Captivate' event news appears: Lost Planet 3

Lost Planet?! I love those games..... devloped by Spark unlimited the makers of Legendary and turning point fall of liberty.
Are you ****** kidding me Capcom? Seriously?
How well did it work the last time you gave a franchise to a low tier Western studio? Oh right I remember it created the very poor RE:ORC.
But no don't learn your lesson just keep giving these titles to those studios -_-

So far it has only 'worked' once and that was Dead Rising 2. The only reason it worked being that the Western developers used the same engine and utterly identical gameplay. Adding some weapon customisation. Although they somehow managed to make it a little worse by removing the fantastic photo stuff.

Otherwise we have RE:ORC, Dark Void, Bionic Commando. Soon to add DmC and Lost Planet 3 to this list -_-

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

I feel your pain! But hey, at least Bionic Commando Rearmed was good..

LP2 was good and playing the campaign with 3 other individuals on a high difficulty was insanely exhilarating. People need to stop judging co-op games based on team-mate AI. Might as well slam L4D1 and 2 and label them as bad games due to the AI trying to revive teammates that are in a fire among the other idiotic things they do.

My only complaint with LP2 was the inconsistent framerate on consoles. Might just pick it up during a steam sale so I can try it out with greater graphical fidelity.

Due to LP2s sales I expect LP3 to be a god awful CoD or GoW clone.

Usually the AI in Left 4 Dead or L4D2 is much better than an average player despite some weird decisions. They usually take MUCH less damage than human players and have a high kill count.

No doubt LP2 is a fun experience if you play it with 3 friends or people online, but alone it's a disaster. L4D can be enjoyable even when playing alone.

I liked the first one but I never felt any need to buy LP2 and definitly won't buy LP3.

I've finished it alone and with friends, it was far from a disaster. I've been frustrated by the L4D AI on far more occassions. Either way that wasn't the point I was attempting to convey.

Should have scrapped the series. The second one was just bad.

hmm I suppose this means the games will be on sale on Steam soon, worth buying?

Only for a serious steam sale price, £5-£8 really (it's about that much on amazon now). You really need to find some people to play the game with in Co-op (online co-op), the campaign is pretty much designed around co-operative play and the AI is horse shit. It's worth it just for the boss battles against giant fucking insects though, and its got a nice customizable multiplayer component.

eh I doubt that I would be able to convince 3 other people to get it

Not bad. Good news for the 2 people who still care after 2. Surprising news, though...

Surprised it won't be on WiiU, that is. Or maybe it will be?

Here at least is one third party game that won't be worth the cost of porting, however negligible those costs are.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

In former days you could buy a game with the Capcom logo without further research. You could be almost sure that it was a quality product. This generation not Capcom, Konami and Square-Enix ruined some franchises brand names by external western developers.

Maybe this whole concept of "Westernizing" is one of the reasons. USA, UK, Germany, France. There is not on "western gaming taste".

One other major fault of Capcom is their hardcore approach regarding difficulty. A Capcom Platinum Trophy is almost certainly stupidly difficult and time consuming. Sengoku Basara, Lost Planet, Street Fighter 4... a fine way to give the most hardcore gamers a little service and neglect the larger group of average hardcore gamer.

Come on, beating the world record as a requirement for the platinum trophy. I wonder if Lost Planet 3 will go the same route.
