I actually don't mind IOS. Its ok. Bit cumbersome after using WP7 but its stable.

Android phones are horribly hit and miss, and their marketplace is a shocker.

I really want to like my wifes really well specced HTC sensation S. But it just has so many OS issues.

It takes photos on its own, it gets seriously hot. It needs booting 3 times a day. It freezes all the time. The OS regularly uses 620mb of the 756mb ram available. It needs a Virus protection software to safely use the unvetted Android marketplace.

To be quite honest Android was a great idea, but I for the life of me after 2 months of having the phone for my wife wonder how the mess of an OS got through te door in its unvetted state.

When she first got the phone it was very fast, and very smooth. After 2months and barely downloading any apps the phone grinded to a halt. Thought it may be the phone, but on the 3rd phone and Phones4U tell us to be honest it happens to a lot of Android OS phones. So now she is stuck in a contract for another 12 months with a phone that's OS on the admission of the well known UK shop we bought it from is not friendly to any hardware.

Its a shame. On the face of it Android is good. But after 6 months with less hardware my WP7 beats her phone at everything. Its faster all round.

And I haven't booted my phone for 72 days. Yes 72 days.

Sensation is a very poor phone, to be honest almost every HTC phone i tried is crappy , not one that actually was a good experience.

?????????????

It won POTY in several publications in UK last year.

Most consider only the Galaxy S2 to be better.

http://www.zdnet.co.uk/reviews/smartphones/2011/06/01/htc-sensation-40092946/

However many are finding the phone prone to grinding to a halt. Even with a Dual core processor. My 1gz snapdragon outperforms it. And my phone has 256 mb less ram.

Specs mean nothing when Android is concerned. My friends Galaxy S2 is already slowing down. Im regularly already finding stuff quicker on searches out and about than him now.

it was much faster when he first got it.

The hell? I actually got it for free (when i got HD7) and never cared about it , it was slow and clunky and has a really ugly screen.

Seeing as you clearly didn't like WP7 from the HD7, I'm not sure why you would listen to fanboys and let the hype get to you.

Like with so many other things, fanboyism is not the answer, and Android might very well be better suited to your needs and desires. WP7, Android and iOS all have different strengths, and one platform will only be superior to the other according to the needs of the individual.

I personally haven't owned an Android device, so I can't really give you any comparisons, but I can tell you why I like WP7. I don't put huge requirements on my phone, I just need something that can do what dumbphones do and let me browse the web and check my mail, while having the occasional app to make things easier and better, like navigation, public transport, games, etc.

WP7 does all that beautifully, in an interface I find easy and quick to use. I don't need customization above what WP7 already offers and the limitations Microsoft set on hardware means basically every app runs well on my device (despite its age). So WP7 is definitely a system for me, but whether it is so for you is something else.

This.

But really whats the point of this thread? Judging by your responses it seems you made it simply so you could slag on WP7. But even more importantly, who seriously thinks IE9 is better than Chrome? IE10 is the only good IE I have ever used...and I still prefer Chrome to it though.

Why? Android is the best.

When I had an iPhone, I couldn't download pdf's...well it would give me 2 pages, regardless of how many there are. On my Android I can read PDF's and actually get work done on the subway without having to lug around my laptop.

Also multi-tasking, I always do multiple things on my android, when I had an iphone, you could only do two things at once, play music and load a single app. I hated it.

Also the apps, why can't I just download my app off the internet and install it? If there is a song I like, why can't I download it directly onto my phone? Why must everything be done through iTunes. I also remember it was a real b***h trying to play avi files on my iPhone, and it involved converting them. I want to post my workout or DVD on my phone, I can do it on my Android.

Also the MP3 player is just better. I can make a playlist directly on my phone, delete songs, download new ones, and rename them all on my phone, couldn't with iPhone.

I also really like playing emulators for games I own. I love the GBA and PS1 generation and I like how I can play GBA and PS1 emulations on my Android.

but this isn't about why Apple sucks, this is my MS sucks....well for the same reasons as above. Without custom apps, your limited in what you can do.

Also I like Symbian, it's old and dated but hey you can get good games free on that, and again, emulators work, you can edit your music as you play it, and it's got the basic apps.

I rate it Android >> Symbian >>>>WP7>iOS....but iOS gets cool free games, but do you really need a $600 phone to pay a particular $4 game? Emulator is a better route.

What your about to read is my opinion on my phones

I own allot of Android phones and 1 WP7:

To me, Android = Linux as WP7 = Windows.

Every Android phone I get, I am constantly reading on rumors on whether or not my phone is going to get the next update, from 1.5, 2.0,2.1,Ginger, ICS, etc.  It's like a crappy waiting game, a hit or miss, are you going to get the latest and greatest update? or are you going to have to buy a new phone 5 months later in order to get it?

I have yet to own a Android phone that had great battery life, Android phones = take your charger with you.

Apps (most of the time) don't feel solid, they always seem buggy.  Littered with ads, push notifications, even paid apps have a way of sending you an ad, and I bought  98% of the apps I have on my phone.  After 2.2 they said you do not need a task killer or even Watchdog, because once you close it Android stops it, - BS, tell that to the crap apps that you need but still stay functioning after they are closed (Eating my CPU not memory) like BloatWare that likes to auto sart.  It's to easy for sneaky apps to be on the market and installed, a Google does a nice sweep once a year, but tats not enough, to much open source is not a good thing, make it harder to get a license to upload apps to market.

Android OS is buggy, take the battery info, the apps you use don't get % correctly because "Display" takes up the percentage.  So if your playing Draw Something, it shows up as only 3% of battery used, you played the game for 10min and you went from 80% charged to 65% charged, but the battery places it under Display.  It's a known bug from Android 1.5 that is one of many that has yet to be fixed.

I was like other people, can wait for the next update to bring new features, but they were features that were short lived, and the update caused more problems, like my HTC Thunderbolt and the New Radio update that has caused connection issues with battery drain for months.  Update to Google Market was a joke, not the Play Part with the stupid Play Name, but the update not to long ago that really changed everything, look at 'MY APPS' and then look a the complete mess... EVERY SINGLE APP YOU HAVE EVER DOWNLOADED is now on one list, no way to change it, you have to scroll to find your purchased apps, with no-way to filter anything out and the BEST PART: NOT IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER, that's right, want to find say Dead Space? well it's not after Cat Soundboard, it's somewhere in between ZdBox and Amazon App Store.

Then you have to deal with motoblur, HTC Sense, Samsung TouchW, I mean WTF.. thats why it takes so long for updates like ICS, shit- HTC had no idea about ICS the day google announced it.  Ya they have ROMS, but lets be real here.  First you have to find a ROM for your phone, then you have to see what problem it has, NONE of them work 100% there will always be bugs, then you have to find the best radio, then you have to reinstall your backup, then you look and there is a new version. Pain in the ass, but still a cool feature.

I have one WP7 and although it's not used as a phone because I don't have it connected, it still does EVERYTHING without the phone.

Everything is on one screen, It's simple, apps feel solid and legit, yet to get a push ad notification, XBL is very cool, Zune Market, battery life is solid because the OS knows how to stop an app after it's not in use, MS does wave updates to get an update on to as many phones as possible, I want the Nokia 900.  Windows Phone 7 has the best F'EN keyboard on ANY phone I have ever used hands down!  I'm actually running an android WP7 app that's very close to mimicking it.

I like the customization of Android, but sometimes to much user control- open source is not always the best way to go, and not just for the user, but for the people that make apps/roms for your phone, you know, that phone that your about to make an online purchase with, and you just installed an app/rom that you gave every permission to do so.

With all that said, I love Android, I wouldn't keep buying phone after Android phone & tablet if I didn't but as soon as Verizon gets a WP7 I want I'm changing because to me, I feel it's more of a solid OS, it does what I need it to do with ease and great battery life.

Epic post . My biggest problem with Android is the battery and resources consumption.

nice to know then.

well the only thing to do is buy a real camera.

I have a real and great camera but for parties, clubs and pubs I prefer a cellphone with a great camera (I drink a lot)... well the cellphone is always with me, the real camera not .

Did you think the video was good? The audio is amazing, isn't it? ^_^

I have not used the video function lately but the 720p record is good and the zoom seem ok too... the audio is really amazing but I have to shoot the video quiet because any word from me enters in the video (I don't like that).

Lots of phones have come close to the N8 and outmatched it in some cases. Xenon remains an advantage though. However, Symbian^3 sucks, and with the photo editing apps in iOS, Android, Windows,  you can do a lot more than taking photos.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/17/camera-showdown-iphone-4s-vs-iphone-4-galaxy-s-ii-nokia-n8-a/

My real issue comparing the N8 pictures with the others phones is the lack of light in the environment... the xenon really make difference when shoot night pictures... with daylight almost all seem similar in terms of quality .

The point of this thread is a solid convincing , I made it clear that I am an Android fan, so what would you say to convince a fanboy?

also a lot of people here think IE9 is the best browser ever, including Dsolitude and Kowenicki , but we all know Kowen is Steve Ballmet in disguise.

Thanks, I still hate your guts though

by the way at that part , I actually found out about it just today, its pretty weird that your list of "Installed" apps is in Alphabetical order but the "All Apps" is not, its just one of those simple things that everyone seem to overlook and it pisses people off, I have this same problem with "Download List" on PSN.

When I had an HTC Tytn II (AT&T Tilt), it was a fantastic phone. Of course, that was four years ago and it's not anywhere considered that good a device nowadays.
