Vita really need a FF or a few JRPGs game fast. LBP and Resistance will do shit for moving hardware but I'm excited about Gravity Rush though. Vita can't survive with only their first party games.

True. Actually we can see that 3DS shines if compared to PSV's poor performance, PSV needs a comparison with 3DS at its worst to not look too bad, but both are currently disappointing compared to last gen. One of Sony's biggest mistakes with PSV is the same it did with PS3, a device so expensive needs a simultaneous WW launch able to fully exploit the first Xmas to achieve an initial boost as large as possible from early adopters and reach early enough the critical mass at which 3rd parties start releasing more important games. Ninty's biggest mistake was probably to kill too early DS sales, before 3DS was actually able to intercept them. And with Wii and Wii U this risky strategy can go even worse, as both PS3 and XB360 have already become stronger than Wii, while PSP became stronger than DS only in Japan when it could still be useful, while it is WW only now, with DS almost dead.
Has anyone considered that people are not buying Vita because they expect a price drop just like the 3DS?
ie; Sony hasn't annoucned a price drop, but it's inevitable wasn't it? Right from the start.

Before the Vita was released I was claiming that anticipation of a price cut was a significant risk for Sony ...
hmm... the last years we had a pretty good spike for easter .. seems like there is/will be none this time
The Vitas problem right now are the games. It will need more than some Pinball and chees game to sell. Software sells hardware. Games like God of War and Gran Turismo will sell the Vita and not some lame ports from older PS3 games. When will the developers realize that?

Well the problem with the vita is that it only has good games. It needs more system sellers like Uncharted. The 3ds already has games that people know they can only get on the 3ds and are buying it.The vita games are good but not ones that would make me go and buy the system
RolStoppable said: No, it really isn't when 120k units of those sales come from Japan. The minimum target for the 3DS has to be 300k worldwide in a week with no big releases. Anything below that is evidence that Nintendo is doing something wrong. |
Your expectations are very high. 300k would be nice but 3DS selling at 230k is good. The only direct competition has much lower sales in all regions.
