Amazing in Japan, that's all I'll say. 200k is a given, 300 k is probable and if it has at least some nintendo legs, it's going to sell even more than that.

Great in Japan. Okay in America, especially when you take into consideration that this is practically a new IP. Horrible in Europe, but I'm starting to expect that from them now. (Look at those 3DS hardware sale's!)
I think it should be considered a great success (mainly because my expectations were very low...).
Hopefully, Nintendo will take this as a sign that new, or... um... mid-new IP's are welcomed by the fans. Even though it's possible that Pit's appearance in Brawl pushed a great part of those sales.
Now, let's see how well the "word of mouth" works with this title.
I wouldn't call it spectacular sales, but the game is in Nintendo's C-tier of games that Star Fox, F-Zero, and Metroid also occupy. These games never reach 5 million. Week 1 sales for Nintendo games usually do not have the same value as week 1 for other companies. Many other companies sell 40-60% of the lifetime total in the first week, Nintendo usually sells a much lower percentage of the total in week 1; sometimes less than 5%.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Considering it's a one of the biggest 1st party games on 3DS and given the extensive ad campaign, it's pretty lame... One more title praised by the press and ignored by people.

I think not they should make this a launch-title. If this is a launch-title it would be rushed and a bad game.
Didn't it come out on Thursday or Friday last week? If it sold 240k in 2-3 days then that's really good isn't it?

Also you should consider the different languages in Europe. Kid Icarus has only english voices and subtitles in the different languages. The subtitles are near to useless, because of all the action on the screen. I already thought about it, because I could recommend the game to some friends, but they would not like the english voices, because they would have to concentrate to understand them. And the funny dialogs are an important part of the experience KI has to offer.
Resident Evil:Revelations has the voices in the most important languages spoken in europe.
This is probably my favoirte nintendo brand game ever besides Zelda and Pokemon. It really is an amazing game and the controls are good as well. It takes a moment to get use to but it is way more acuurate than thumb sticks. The voice acting is well done and humorous. Story is good, tons of unlockables. The only complaint about this game for many people is the controls and like I said, theyre just different to get use to but really good once you figure it out. This game will sale over a million eventually no doubt.
