That really didn't sound like a g

The only thing is, it doesn't fit with the sentence.

Then again, what does...obviously he had something else on his mind

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

You should start a poll to see what word fits better.

"Complete the following sentence 'the anti-war government ni...' is it:

1. Ni**er
2. Nice young man
3. Nipple
4. Nit picker
5. Nizzle fuh shizzle
6. Ninny
7. Nihlist
8. Nilgai
9. Nicotine addict
10. Niddering
11. Nightingale
12. Nimbus
13 Niminy-Piminy"

Well, regardless of what he intended to say, it's always refreshing with some American politics among all this "democracy".

Luckily, this guy won't get many votes in any case.

Every time I hear it, it sounds like he is saying 'governmentnik'. Which almost makes sense. The suffix -nik can be added to words to associate a person to that word. Therefore a 'governmentnik' would be a person heavily associated with government. It could be an odd way of saying Obama is part of the establishment.

I don't think he was actually going to say the N word. And I really, really don't like Santorum to begin with.

he wouldn't have stumbled like he did if that was the case I think

So anytime someone stumbles over their words that means the words prior were words caught up?

Listen to the sounds.  He makes a hard K sound, not the soft G sound that is pronounced with the N word.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Are people so insecure that even when a man has a less than eloquent slip of the tongue, they believe he was trying to use racial slurs to insult someone else?

Yes.

It's part of a trend in media coverage in the last week and a half or so.  Pat Buchanon got accused of being a racist by saying to Jessie Jackson  "Your boy".

Which is a pretty common non-racist comment for somebody the person your talking to likes the person your talking about.

It's used ALL THE TIME on PTI, where a white and black guy debate, and Wilbon never got mad about Korneiser talking about "Your boy, Donovan McNabb".

There's been a trend for people to try and paint anger over obama to be about racism, and not the fact that none of his policies did what he promised, and he broke most of his campaign promises... often not only by not just not acting but by putting forth effort to go the exact opposite way he agreed to go.
