Forums - Gaming - Microsoft and Sony showing no new Consoles at E3. Stupid or Smart Decision?

Is it stupid or smart of Microsoft/Sony to not showcase a new console?

it will be stupid to follow nintendo to show a new console, there is no need to hurry to the next gen,as the criterion of this gen is HD+motion control,SONY and MS have already done with this, nintendo is the last to get the criterion. But nintendo is good at business,it can sell the home console twice in one gen period, although the period of this gen may be a bit longer.

Well Sony and Microsoft have often say they wont show this and that in the near future and most of the times they lie. If Sony say they will anounce a Playstation 4 this e3 than this will catch up potential ps3 buyers.

And if they really dont show anything at e3 that wont mean they cant show anything at gamescom and tokio game show.

I think we will see some x box 720 and ps4 anouncement this year and a realease in 2013.

Sony and MS will cast Wii U as a 'current' gen console as Wii was a 'last' gen console to them. They won't respond with a new console. Not for a while, and when they do, their new consoles will blow Wii U out of the water powerwise.

Sony will pimp Vita as a potential hand-held touch screen controller for PS3 games and probably have something that uses it in that way. Ta Da! A Wii U without buying a new console! (never mind the cost of vita.....)

MS will use the opportunity to target the casual crowd even more as Nintendo seems more focused on core ATM. Expect a lot of hype for new 'exciting' Kinect titles.

In my view Wii U is really an inbetween system and not the start of a new generation. It's Pachter's Wii HD, albiet late.

I expect Sony to announce a slimmer PS3 for a lower cost either at E3 or TGS

would be smart, make it look drasticaly differnt from the current ps3, with a price cut and market it as "the new ps3"

indifferent.

the 6th gen was the last console war we'll ever have. this gen has been about aligned launches, the console wars will never be wars again with the big 3 seemingly doing there own thing.

It's not stupid if they don't, unless they don't have much to show.

Would be foolish to not show anything,Why let nintendo have all the attention and potential sales!

Smart. Because there is a much better time to release infos about the next-gen consoles: Right before the Wii-U hits the shelves. Kill the competitor with anticipation of your product that will come next year.

Sony also has another focus this E3: save the Vita. I think they will announce many first-party and some third-party game sfor Vita.
