Nah they commited much worse crime of kicking Nintendo butt two generations in a row and even when glorius Wii retook sales crown Sony still continued to steal 3rd party support ;)

Sony having alphabet characters on their controllers would give more fuel to the fire for Nintendo fans in terms of copying (Its ok for Sega and MS though) so they changed shapes and Konami adjusted accordingly.

The original konami code, also called the contra code, had start. To select two players, you pressed select. So select start was the 2 player version of the code.

No wait, Microsoft... how could they invert the position of the A and B (and X and Y) from the standard - it's impossible for any nintendo fan to play that thing! And how could they name buttons " " and " " on the original Xbox controller too?

M$ is the reason gaming is slowly dying if you're playing for longer than 5 years.
Call of Duty and co never would have had the impact if this piece of low quality plastic wouldn't exist(im on my 4th 360 so im allowed to say that).

Cause before that people liked to play a lot of different genres.Not even on the 360 games beside Call of Duty,Halo and Gears do sell well(Alan Wake and Forza for example) cause the community isn't caring that much for anything else.
And please dont come with sales Nrs of Sony Exclusives - M$ only has like 5 high quality exclusives over the whole year,most of the time even less.Sony comes out with ~ 30 over the whole world.Adding all those Multiplats Sony People can probably choose out of over 70 games per year(and i know its the own fault of Sony that everything is selling so low if they hit the people in the face with dozen of games)

The main market shifted from Japan and Europe to the USA where only CoD reigns....Devs from other Genres start to adapt and try to aim their well known brands to the western market...that of course still doesn't care...now even less cause they lose their still waiting fanbase(see for example SquareEnix and FF13-2 - They lost complete Japan and in the west no one cares - Hope those 350k sold Units worldwide of the 360 version were worth it).
Capcom is directly aiming a random FPS game like Resident Evil Operation R.City to Call of Duty Fans...Hell Call of Duty Fans don't even know what Resident Evil is cause they weren't even born when those games were big and they even ignore 1000 times better games of the same genre like Battlefield 3.

Yeah good job - Destroying the fun of gaming for everyone else and raised a lot of Casual FPS Zombies that probably listen to Justin Bieber while playing.

Pro REAL Gaming >  Love Sony,Love Nintendo,Love Sega since they started in the business.Loved the variety in genres and that everyone got tons of different games.
Other people who think they know stuff > Love M$,Kinect and Call of Duty.

Select is used for two-player mode. I know because I used it in lifeforce alot.
