Wikipedia says they where founded in 2001 so they should be almost 11.

Why couldnt they just used Project Gotham instead?

By doing this they actually are growing the Forza franchise ever more tiring

Forza has greater sales potential then PGR had.

But also, its all about MS getting the name out. Most of GT5 sales come from sim fans who have either never heard of Forza and/or dont think its worth checking out when the critical acclaim and amazing community/dlc support beg to differ.

Also, things like Forza Horizon are spinoffs...aka they will stray from the usual formula......making it quite the opposite of tiring.

Main idea is to let the main games come out every 2 years, each with more improvements then the last, while every other year spinoffs create a fun new direction. All the while the name gets hammered into the general gaming public, leading to greater "mindshare" given the high quality and frequency of release.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
