Forums - Sales Discussion - PS Vita to be the number one selling console/handheld in the new gen

STUPID THREAD
KEEP DREAMING NINTENDO FAGGOTS.............oh, wait

Around the Network

Well, you can dream I guess. I seriously don't see it happening.

I'm sick of this crap. Vita is going to do quite well for itself, it will likely make a profit, and will sell approximately as much as the PSP. For Sony to go up against Nintendo twice, where no other company has ever managed to do it once is amazing.

Why must we delude ourselves into thinking Vita has a chance of winning? It will only lead to disappointment when it fails to happen, and believe me, Vita will not have disappointing sales.

Of course sales are important.

It raises the chances of great games in the future for the console! Or do you think Vita pleases the eyes of let's say Yuji Hori selling 10k per week in japan? Or do you think sony is willing to invest how many millions on the next uncharted if the thing is not selling very well?

Sales are everything, so they equal quality! But of course both can do well!

I totally agree with you, but I think what you might be trying to say is that quality generally leads to sales (at an appeal level), and sales usually leads to quality offerings (at a business decision level).

But they aren't really equal, because there have been cases of games of high quality which have sold poorly, and games of low quality which have sold beyond what they deserve (cough COD *ughhh*), but also some games which do not have the right sales strategy continue to get made due to poor business reasons, and sometimes in order to bolster sales companies may go with a lower quality offering (where in certain cases less quality or effort may lead to sales).

Seriously though...  I feel where he is coming from.  I was probably labeled just as disillusioned back in the mid 2000 when I swore Nintendo was on a comeback.  I was mainly laughed at and I suppose that is the fate karma had in store for Sony fans.  They were never really good sports in the "console wars" and they got what they deserved.  Having their favorite company make mistake after mistake last gen only helped worsen things for them.  They just had a terrible "plan" for the start of the generation.  They finally got their head out of their ass but it was too late.  They still ended up decently but nowhere near where they should have if they actually had a good plan for this home console generation.

Whether the two are similar depends on the details. When you made your proclamations, did you have any evidence to support you? Or were your ideas like Gilgamesh's, i.e. a load of drivel that's completely devoid of facts and contradictions, completely divorced from reality?

An argument can be made for gilgamesh's position. But that requires more than mere assertions, most of which fly in the face of reality, and the rest of which are dependent on wishful thinking. It's not his theory that's amusing, it's his approach.

Ah, what's with all the fancy condescending words? When you make people feel like junk in style, do you get bonus points?

Sure. Add to that my own terrible grammar in the bolded, and I call it a good post all around.

I stand by the sentiment though. Consider it my own small, futile effort to encourage certain posters to improve their posting.

Haha Good, at least you made me smirk.

Is his words too hard for you to understand??. Why not answer his points instead of giving a sly, but dumb remark..

Oh geez, I know the guy. I don't need to answer his points if he wants he can even ask me by PM or whatevs. Plus, what point did he make apart from saying Seth was fabulating. It was up to Seth to defend his position, not me. Zero... smh

I was just giving him a hard time. If he wants to debate, he knows we still have our Seaman thread

I've said it many times Nintendo has held the handheld crown for far to long the Vita is hear and it's a force to reckon with. What with the perfect controls to a handheld gaming device, great new app features (so does the 3DS) and some of the top graphics out there (since when better graphics = more sales?) it's only a matter of time before it begins to outsell the competition. Price is a little way to high for now but as price cut's come sales will explode time after time (as we saw with the PSP, oh wait...).

Games like Monstrer Hunter (MH4 announced only for 3DS), Resident evil (not announced while 3DS already got 2 RE titles) and Final fantasy (not announced) hit in Japan there's no telling how high sales can get, and Call of Duty (not announced) in Amarica, now finally with the perfect controls and portability it's going to be a huge hit (CoD is no relevant on handheld) . And of course the one and only big game Gran Turismo would be absolute devine in Europe (See GT PSP sales), throw in some Fifa games (See FIFA games sales on PSP) and we once again we got some big system sellers few million sellers

Now I can see the 3DS market drying up within a few years (oh really?), there main seller is the 3D their games and there really isn't much potential there (heard that argument about motion control last gen...), a lot of complaints of head aches (Never heard about that) and limiting age group (there is no limiting age on Vita's games?), the updated graphics isn't huge (about the same as N64 to Wii) and from what we seen from the Wii it limited the amount of quality games from other big companies (since when better graphics = better quality?), there's a huge library of games out now can be ported to the PS Vita with similar graphics, huge potential (the same goes with 3DS with the plus value of 3D graphics). And honestly I dunno how long Nintendo can keep up the remakes (they give what customers want, just look at the sales of those remakes) and sequels to the same games they have (lol and there is no sequels from Sony, won't enumerate them all...) , how many more decades are people going to buy basically the same game with updated graphics and a new name of console next to the title (why not asking the same question for Sony franchises?), not saying they don't make new IP's but they really should invest more money in it.

Yeh the PS Vita has a way to go but give it time, soon enough it'll take over (wishful thinking) much like the PS3 (PS3 is still in third position) many more price cuts left to come.

I added some corrections, just for fun :)

Hey Gilgamesh, nothing to add?
