Forums - Gaming Discussion - What was your Game of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011?

Tagged games:

2006 : Wii sports(I had to include this major killer-ap)

2007: Call of Duty 4

2008: Mario Kart wii

2009: New super Mario Bros wii (Uncherted 2, depending on my state of mind)

2010: God of War 3

2011: Not a great year for gaming. I'll go with MW3(King of Fighters 13). If the developers of Uncharted 3 had kept a little bit of the Narrative to themselves and given us at least a final boss, it would have had a chance.

Fine, since (t)Rolstoppable wants me to post and not be biased:

R-Up - N/A

2001 - Final Fantasy X
R-Up - Super Smash Brothers Melee

2002 - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
R-Up - Ratchet and Clank, Metroid Prime

2003 - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
R-Up - Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando

2004 - Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
R-Up - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

2005 - Resident Evil 4
R-Up - Guitar Hero

2006 - Final Fantasy XII
R-Up - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Guitar Hero II

2007 - Portal
R-Up - Rock Band

2008 - Super Smash Brothers Brawl
R-Up - Rock Band 2

2009 - Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time
R-Up - Assassin's Creed II

2010 - Red Dead Redemption, Donkey Kong Country Returns (Tie)
R-Up - Rock Band 3

2011 - Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (tie)
R-Up - Up for Grabs

2011 Runner Up is still up for grabs because I haven't played Skyward Sword or Arkham City, and Rayman Origins is impressive, and Dungeon Defenders was awesome, as was Pokemon Black/Whit. I'll let time decide as my favorites sink in.

There, you happy? I don't see any bias there at all, and if there was, it'd be towards Nintendo exclusives.

2007: Super Mario Galaxy
2008: Super Smash Bros Brawl
2009: New Super Mario Bros Wii
2010: Monster Hunter Tri
2011: Zelda: Skyward Sword

I also have kept track of everything since 2002 (in the years before 2002 i often bought video games that didn't actually come out that year, so it's harder to keep track of. I know my favorite game bought in that year, but not my favorite game made in that year)

2002: Metroid Prime
2003: Zelda: Wind Waker
2004: Metroid Prime 2
2005: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
2006: Zelda: Twilight Princess

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Hmmm, the Miyamoto is strong with this one.

I remember doing the calculations when my game collection hit 100 games, late in 2009. At that point, a solid 2/3rds of my games (67) were Nintendo games. Throughout 2010-2011-2012 i have bought perhaps 5 or 6 third party games out of 19 games overall.

Also Monster Hunter Tri is on that list. Though what i consider to be my Game of the Year for 2003, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, is another one of those games that i bought in a different year than when it released. PSO released for GameCube in 2002, and while i would definitely say PSO is inferior to Metroid Prime, it is equally definitely superior to Wind Waker, but Wind Waker definitely belongs in that year.

You are so biased that you don't even notice your bias.

Twelve years, five Sony exclusives, three Nintendo exclusives, zero Microsoft exclusives, five multiplatform games (assuming GTA: VC released on PC in 2002, otherwise six Sony exclusives). Let's not talk about Sega.

Runner ups consist of three Sony exclusives, three Nintendo exclusives, zero Microsoft exclusives, six multiplatform games (assuming GTA: SA released on PC in 2004, otherwise four Sony exclusives).

The worst thing of all is that you aimed to be not biased, so I am quite sure that you sneaked in a token game here and there.

Y U hate M$?

I don't, but none of their games made my game of the year becuase I've yet to find something exclusive to their consoles with the heart and soul of something like Wind Waker, Ratchet and Clank, Mario, or Uncharted.  I's all preening machismo.
