I also have kept track of everything since 2002 (in the years before 2002 i often bought video games that didn't actually come out that year, so it's harder to keep track of. I know my favorite game bought in that year, but not my favorite game made in that year)

2002: Metroid Prime
2003: Zelda: Wind Waker
2004: Metroid Prime 2
2005: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
2006: Zelda: Twilight Princess

*looks over all your list and sees every one of them is a Nintendo game*

Hmmm, the Miyamoto is strong with this one.

I remember doing the calculations when my game collection hit 100 games, late in 2009. At that point, a solid 2/3rds of my games (67) were Nintendo games. Throughout 2010-2011-2012 i have bought perhaps 5 or 6 third party games out of 19 games overall.

Also Monster Hunter Tri is on that list. Though what i consider to be my Game of the Year for 2003, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, is another one of those games that i bought in a different year than when it released. PSO released for GameCube in 2002, and while i would definitely say PSO is inferior to Metroid Prime, it is equally definitely superior to Wind Waker, but Wind Waker definitely belongs in that year.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
