im excited to see first week numbers.

Could have sworn this very article had been posted already. Either way I'm more keen on week 2 sales as opposed to launch week sales. That's when Japans sales got hit the hardest so it'd make for an interesting comparison.

He kind of ruins it all by saying it is selling pretty good in Japan.

He also never said Vita was selling "very well", he said he was "very, very positive" about the sales.

But I hope it's true!

Yeah NPD will be very exciting and thenNintendo financials with handheld sales in EU.

I know everyone has been knocking the Japan sales, but think about it a little bit and it might not seem all the bad, not great, but not bad, maybe even considered "very well".  320,000 at launch, woot, but only an average of what? 15,000 a week?  Well let's place it in reference to everything else shall we?  It's new hardware, more pricey hardware, no wonder really its on the lower end.  That and the PSP is still selling very well, always has been in Japan, and a bunch of great titles there have been debuting increasing demand for that over the Vita due to not so entirely compatible psp games, side note thankfully all vita games will be digital, hurray for Sony putting their foot down on that one atleast.  The vita launched in December then saw decreasing sales week after week, but hey!, did anyone notice the other systems.  Oh yeah, they have also been decreasing each week, in fact if you plug in the percentages the Vita is right on par with everything else out there, especially interesting when comparing to how the 3ds is doing.  Percentages aside, the Vita just launched and hasn't had a chance to adhere to the market or present a larger breadth of games, unlike the 3ds who has finally done so and is selling well because of it.  Can we really discredit the vita because of 3ds' succuess after being available in the market for so long?  As for the US launch, well there's that 74,600 number of First edition bundles sold.  I won't know until next week's data comes in but I'd assume not everyone looking to get one at launch opted for that bundle, especially since that was an oline order only.  Some people still like to buy things in person right?  Someone has to have the preorder data, maybe.  Wish I did, can't find any facts anywhere except for after sales data on VgChartz. Well, software pre orders yes, but not hardware.  Jack won't say how they are selling until everything is out there and selling, but "very, very positive"  is pretty good I think.  Let's just hope everyone else starts to feel the same after the data comes out.  I would like to play some Vita games with a market environment that's not trying to kill me because I bought something Sony.

I expect a healthy launch, especially with how the marketing has ended up going (At least here in the UK) and the general vibe. Prices have gone up since launch so thats a sign of good sales, albeit it's bit me in the arse lol.

It's always for me been the long term sales of the thing that will make or break this system. It's gonna dip in summer simply because software dries up, but i reckon it could rebound this Christmas without a price cut if it's got Assassin's Creed, COD, Final Fantasy, first party stuff hitting in a short space of time. Especially if that GTA rumour comes true too, and they get an MH.

Wait a minute...the CEO of Sony thinks the Vita is having a positive response?! whoa!!!

Vita japan numbers are surely not overwhelming, but there still a problem with 3DS/Vita Japan comparison/propaganda. 95% of Nintendo DS sales are now 3DS sales. I think its the first time something like this happen, a company killing their own device sales by pricing their new backward compatible device nearly the same price. Its really a given 3DS sell faster then DS in Japan.
