sony is known for releasing "powerful" consoles..  if they cant do that next gen what else do they have to offer? 

Graphics/Online?  i think Microsoft has that spot.

Name brand/Games? Nintendo says HELLO!

I think you should just quit like Sega did. Except it won't be quite like Sega, because people were sad when Sega quit. Ha!

Yeah, they probably should quit. I don't think they can afford all the research and development costs associated with making a new console at the moment, and also all the advertising costs.

Agreed. And don't get me wrong people, i don't hate Sony i just think the smartest thing to do is NOT release a new console.

I personally think they can be powerful software giant. In fact they could most likely could surpass EA if they played their cards right. I like Sony Playstation, but they seem to be bleeding more money every time they release something.

Also if possible I would love to see the rebirth of Nintendo's Playstation ... I still have fears to see what my favorite two companies could have done together. 

Yes they should release a PlayStation 4, but only when the time is right. I wouldn't be surprised to see if they actually skipped a generation, and let MSFT/Ninty kill each other.

Sony's TV and Phone sections are the ones bleeding money. They should do something with those. The PS brand is still very valuable.

What would really blow my mind is if they used a different name.

Uhm the development could be cheap if they used non-proprietary parts. Get IBM to make a 6-core regular CPU, none of that Cell garbage, negotiate an HD 7750 based GPU from AMD, slap in 4GB of DDR3 and 2GB of GDDR5 for the GPU, and make a sexy outside. Don't go XDR2 RAM, too expensive, just added costs even if it is blazing fast.

Quitting would be horrible for Sony. Sony is losing its brand recognition everywhere except PlayStation. Don't just give up that easily. And you think 60 million PS3's was a failure? The stupidity of some people is amazing.

Show me where i said PS3 was a failure?  It's a decent console but they lost Billions of dollars!  THEY WILL NEVER MAKE UP FOR THOSE LOSSES! EVER!
