The hardware capabilities isn't the sole reason for getting a console...

Oh god I know that. But my point was that 80 dollars more the vita is totally justifiable considering what is in the device compared to the 3ds.

Well the psp did extremely well for Sony's 1st venture into the handheld market against Nintendo's greatest selling handheld. 

smartphones are not dedicated handheld gaming devices so they are not in the same market at all.

The graphically differences between Vita and 3DS are much less visible than between DS and PSP (look at Resident Evil: Revelations und look at Uncharted-Vita). On top of that the 3DS has the 3D-Feature, more and better games and a bright future.

No, I'm saying that the 3DS's presentation trumps PSV in certain areas and that the PSV, IMO, is most certainly currently too expensive.

No, I'm saying that the 3DS's presentation trumps PSV in certain areas and that the PSV, IMO, is most certainly currently too expensive.

If 3ds didnt have to take a drastic price cut your opinion would certainly be changed.

My opinion would be that both are too expensive. That doesn't really support your argument any.

If this has to do with the install base, it wouldnt make any sense to do this right before release in other markets.

Perhaps its japan only devs? Or perhaps there is some physical force causing this. Otherwise, the other problem is that3ds has more software and more competition. It has more exposure, but working on a brand new system is generally preferred from what i hear regarding app development.
