Have you ever found yourself arguing about whether or not FF13 has the best ending, or is it maybe Ocarina Of Time? Portal? Xenoblade?

 

Well, you're all wrong, because Guinness World Records has asked 13,519 'gamers' for their opinions, and the results are below. Prepare yourself for some rage and facepalming...

... it's a horrid list IMO. There's so much wrong with it I don't know where to begin. Firstly, Black Ops #1? Yeah, shooting zombies, what a GREAT ending! Far better than #11, Super Mario Bros. (I welled up at that one. So sad!). And why is Sonic the HEdgehog on the list? And you'll be hard-pushed to find ANY JRPG on that list, let alone a Final Fantasy...

This strikes me as though they went out and asked some random guys for popular games, or their favourite games. Not the endings. This is a popularity contest in the extreme IMO. So wrong. But what do you think? What's YOUR favourite videogame ending of all time? Maybe we could create our own list and show Guinness what a proper ending is like.

I think this was posted a few days ago. Anyway, good to see halo there! Oh, and what the hell, oblivion had a crap ending! Oh, and red dead's ending was also awesome.



My prediction threads:

Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)

PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)

Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

Halo 4 first 9 weeks sales prediction

PS4 to be down YOY in 2015

I must admit, the placement of Halo Reach up there is alright. I did enjoy the ending for it. Thought it was cool and original.

So basically this list is based on: "Let's ask people about popular games and see what's their opinion on their endings".

That list makes me sad as a gamer

I found that Black Ops ending to be very surprising and funny.
Red Dead Redemption also well deserved. Probably my most emotional situation I ever had in gaming.

Yeah and some obvious bullshit in that list. Mostly consisting of very recent games.

Metal gear solid 4, god of war 1,2 and 3 and uncharted 2 all had amazing endings. Assassins creed 2 was great too. Black ops wasn't bad but no way was it first.

I don't think this list can be taken seriously, really. I mean, yes Black Ops had a funny ending, and RDR DID had a good ending, but are they amongst the best endings EVER? Better than all Final Fantasy endings? Better than Fire Emblem? Better than Vice City? I don't think so...

...and the fact that most of the games were released this gen, and the rest are classic retro games only seals the deal that the people who were asked were inexperienced gamers really. And that annoys me.
