Hands off YouTube. >=/

I wouldn't mind them shutting down Facebook too much. It'd encourage more people to switch to G+.

they won't touch XBL, but i know they can if they wanted to.

never bet against the mind. it's a great thing to waste.

How do you know? You don't you're just guessing.

Also what stupid reasoning 'never bet against the mind'

Wait YouTube is still up ?
How can they survive when every video is an infringement of a copyright.

Once again, their work can only prove to be counterproductive. SOPA and PIPA fell because people don't like it when you dick with their internet, but that applies to all parties who might be conducting such interference

Although it is becoming clear that MegaUpload's fall was the result of government overreach. It is going to be a very interesting court case when the whole thing goes to trial

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, as others have said, I think that this is just about one of the dumbest things they could do. Taking down major sites like Youtube will only make people pissed off at them, and alienate a lot of people from the cause they're fighting for. I get why they want to do it, but I think they're going about it all wrong if this is true. I'd be pretty pissed if they took down Youtube.

From what I've read, it seems as though the MegaUpload folk knew what was happening on their site, allowed it to happen, and even participated in it. That's why they weren't afforded safe harbor under the DMCA and that's why the US government went after them.

Megaupload has a system in place where copyright holders can issue a takedown notice. It's similar to Youtube.

No, it isn't at all.  The takedown system doesn't take down the infringing content, it removes the link to it.  The content remains and is still accessible.  Also MegaUpload limited the number of takedown notices a copyright holder could issue on a daily basis, and then only expanded it if/when it was financially prudent for them to do so.

Is that the thing where the video goes private/goes away on Youtube? The copyright owner taking them down?

No, when a YouTube video is removed, it is inaccessable by both the original uploader as well as the public.  In addition, the public is notified that the content was removed due to infringement (kinder language is used).  The original uploader is notified that their content has been removed, linked to YouTube's upload policy, and reminded that they get one more strike before they go to copyright school or get banned.

Video going private wouldnt get affected by copyright owners unless you post your video on the public sites like this forum lol.

But when you get flagged by YouTube's system on copyright infrigment, you get a warning where you can make dispute claim. If you dont, your video gets removed, muted or get random Ads placed on it.

Btw I got flagged yesterday , apparently my Chrono Trigger videos were the property of GoPotatoTV (another youtube partner channel) ~.~

Made a dispute and pm'd the owner of the channel, he removed the warnings *-* so my videos are safe now lawl.

Hmmm...the dispute thing sounds new.  I've posted videos with music in them, and I don't recall ever seeing the opportunity to dispute a single instance.  I even recently received one.

I've seen on the TV news that the big boss of MU is a big fat guy with tens of super cars and live in the US, not in HK. He is charged for reselling illegal things, not just storing user's files.
Anonymous is just a bunch of over-self-esteemed hackers that are pitiful. I hope XBox Live is strong enough to resist those stupid immature hackers.

They should attack something that would lose millions by going a few minutes down, but isn't visited by the average internet user. Imagine nasdaq and the like going down.

Oh, and PSN and XBL too. The angry responses you get by even suggesting it are hilarious.
