Is a list with a lot of recent animes... :/ Plus Gintama which isn't so old too... Evangelion movies instead of the series.. that say it all.. and the lack of Ghibli's say it all... japan is sick!

Firstly, twenty-first century has only lasted for less than thirteen years. So obviously most of these will be more or less recent. Most of Ghibli films are pre-2000, and so is Evangelion TV series.

Secondly, never consider any Sankaku list seriously. These are all popularity contests, and having SnK anywhere on that list proves that. Not to mention second place.

OK I watched the Evangelion Rebuild moves.

1.0 - It was OK. It was basically a retread of the first couple episodes of the TV series and the fights were kinda ehh and all the characters aren't introduced yet/aren't developed.

2.0 - this is the best one. Best part of Eva is the characters and character development and this reintroduced Asuka, Kaji, new character Mari (who is just OK), and developed Shinji and Rei. Also the plot started to deviate from the TV series which I liked.

3.0 - This was good but not as good as 2.0. I saw that a lot of people didn't like it and I understand why. Probably the biggest issue with this movie for me was that there was barely any character development with a lot of key characters being off screen for the most part. Also Misato turned boring. She doesn't pull off the Gendo Ikari personality as well as Gendo does. Also, on Gendo he turned into Aizen/Light, because everything was all according to keikaku and he even played Kaworu, WTF. Some people aren't happy with how the plot was really different, or with some plot points like the Eva curse thing, but I was pretty happy that things were different. I don't want to watch the same thing again...

The plot is really different because it seems that there's some time loop or a new world cycle based on a lot of evidence presented. In essence the Rebuild series is actually a sequel to the TV series/EoE. Though that's actually all speculation right now but that seems the most likely. I was actually expecting a retread on the series with some changed events, not this.

Anyway, waiting for 4.0 to come out in a few years I guess. By then I'll probably forget a ton and have to reread Eva Wiki entries again, lol. I'm hoping there's a happy ending for once. I'm surprised Shinji never considers killing himself at any point.

And speaking of Wiki entries, I was looking at the Eva wiki and found out that there was a MASSIVE plot point that was contained to some Eva PS2 game's datalog or some shit and NEVER comes up in the series.

http://evangelion.wikia.com/wiki/First_Ancestral_Race

Yeah the progenitors of literally EVERYTHING in this series aren't important enough to bring up. Let's just keep that to some PS2 game that most people will not have played, right...

I'm with you in every point. .. Except that I liked Mari makimari a lot, just that... and was sad that she didn't have as much protagonism in the third as in the second movie, but still great character, is a lot preferible than the other guy...

about the plot being like you say the phrase at the end on of the second movie that Kaworu said: "This time I'll save you for sure" (or something like that, I watched it in spanish subs...) give that theory a strong possibility of being true...

Over the last couple of months I've been watching the following; and they have all gone downhill IMO. Does anybody recommend continuing with any of these. I am roughly 3/4 way pretty much all of them...

Samurai 7 (started off so damn well)
A certain magical index
Chaos Head
Venus vs Virus
Deadman Wonderland
Blastrieter (Spelling?)
Shakagna no Shana III
Ghost hunt
Aria Scarlett Ammo
Speed Grapher
Corpse Princess

So does anybody recommend sticking with these???

On a side note, I am watching Solty Rei and its brilliant.

Thanks for the update.

RE: Shakagna no Shana III, I actually haven't watched the first 2 seasons but I suppose I will continue with this, Samurai 7, and magical index and its spin off which looks quite good. I have also heard great things about Steins Gate, its on my watchlist.

Will definitely drop Venus vs virus and blassreiter.

Solty Rei is great, would highly recommend.

Kids on the Slope. have anyone heard of this.
