I've gotta be honest with Sony's current software support I would have to say 100$ Canadian even 200$ Canadian would be pushing it for me. Now everyone's going to be screaming Fanboy but I'm gladly going to by a 360 this fall for Halo3 at 400CDN!
Software - The PS3 currently has nothing I'm intrested in. Sure FinalFantasy13 looks pretty cool but I don't have money to toss around and FinalFantasy has never been one of my core franchises. KillZone dissapointed me last generation (Though I never owned PS2) it was pretty disapointing offering almost nothing new to the genre and lagging constantly during huge fights, this has left me with very little hope for future KillZone2. The dwindling third party support is enough to drive me away alone with exclusive titles going multiplatform almost every day I see no advantage to buying a PS3.
Hardware - I love the idea of HD, but an HD TV of a decent size and 1080p resolution still goes for over 1,000 Canadian. I don't have a thousand Canadian to buy an HD-TV meaning HD doesn't really come into play. Why would I buy a PS3 when I can get almost any multiplatform title with the same quality of graphic's on the 360 I'm already likely buying for the great software support. The Blu-Ray player is pointless I've heard nothing but bad things about it, I also have realized that the indie studios (Film) are largely in support of HD-DVD and I have no intrest in helping Sony further monopolize the entertainment industry by buying Blu-Ray movies!
Controller - The tilt action controller is nothing but a copy cat gimmick that really gets me pissed. It's not nescessary and while I can see how it can be used in select titles I find it annoying. Developers will try to fit the tilt controller into their games (Becoming annoying) or they will abandon the tilt sensativity making it totally pointless. The controller model is basically the PS2 controller with wireless so I have no reason to want it over lets say the 360 or Wii controllers.
In the end PS3 isn't likely to make my buying list this generation, unless Sony bails on the console industry liquafies its hardware stock for dirt cheap prices and throws in the towel (not Likely)!
